m1ghtymaxXx
Curious to see how this goes. I have a spare passenger side fender laying around that I was thinking about trying it on, but my sheet metal work skills are...well unexplored (assuming the method I suggested) I'm guessing the tricky part is getting the 'flare extension' to contour the fender properly/ from there i suppose you could weld it in place, then cut loose cut the remaining crescent shape of metal that makes up the difference between the old fender opening, and the now expanded one. The just grind down the rest.
Heroez
I go about it differently than what you are thinking. The metal you add should overlap and have a step in it. Lets say you want to add 2 inches to a fender. My peice of metal would be 3 inches wide to allow .5 inches each side for overlap. Putting a step in the metal on both sides allows you to fit the additional metal to the underside, and the surface is flush with the rest of the fender because of the step. I do it that way because I can run in a couple self tapping screws and its held in place. This frees up both my hands to weld with. It also cuts down on the amount of bondo used. You can punch holes in the fender and use spot welds to mount it. Welding the fender to the step/overlap in the metal peice you added. The way they did the mustang was effective. It will vary by application as well, as to technique used. I am no old master myself. Im a newbie. You never really stop learning. One thing I can for certain say, this is dangerous work. Please, make sure that you make safety your number one priority. Having someone on fire watch when welding doesnt make you weak. Putting on a safety glasses actually... does not make you look stupid. yarddogg77
I like to use magnets for holding it together. Or I have some big vice grip clamps and C-clamps. I have a pretty good plan mapped out for the relief cuts and such.
(goldfish)
The doors are normally left alone because if you widen the doors, you need to move the hinge out or it will interfere with the fender.
aplyedmind
You could always go with zg's
(goldfish)
Find the IMSA molds that Zforce had. Make McAdam hurry up on those kameari? fenders
GOTHALOSISM
Justin still has those molds and can get them made. Yarddogg77 wants metal though and not FG.
yarddogg77
I might have to forget this after all. I'm getting calls on my Jeep so the ZX might be my daily driver soon. That's gonna limit what I can do. This sucks.

Heroez
It happens. I keep thinking about flaring the fenders on a S30. Like one thats been in a fender bender where its not cutting up a good car. Its pretty straight forward. For me its finding the blocks of time to do it. I can tell you how, but I cant do it myself here at the time. It would be best to use a hydraulic ram, port o power type, collision repair tool. The different length rods will be a big help. It comes with a rubber end to not damage contact surfaces, but personally would use a flat foot attachment and use a block of wood as an interface between the ram and the metal skin of the fender. This way you arent stretching a small area, but moving the larger area of the block of wood. Plant a tree to give thanks to the wood spirits. With their blessings, we can make the great fire. A man makes the fire, and uses it as seen in his vision, and it consumes him and burns the old away. From the fire comes creation. Only by performing the vision on earth, can the powers of the vision be used. Not a wheel opening. Flared metal fenders. Rare, nice.
