SUNNY Z
I see a pair on ebay. The only ones i was finding were complete sets with perches on them. Maybe i'm not searching the right thing?
Akira
The pictures of the BZ3099 are wrong if it has a perch. Tokico BZ3099's are the rear cartridges for the 87-89 Toyota MR2 that many s30's use for the fronts. HZ3099 are the Tokico Blue version. johnc
The only ones i was finding were complete sets with perches on them. Maybe i'm not searching the right thing? The eBay sellers put up a generic Tokico shock picture. Its not a picture of the actual unit you're buying.
SUNNY Z
The eBay sellers put up a generic Tokico shock picture. Its not a picture of the actual unit you're buying. Well some do. I guess the one i was looking at was a front/rear combo. Thanks
SUNNY Z
I know i'd originally planned on buying 4 BZ3099's, but would i be better off with a different shock front and rear?
SUNNY Z
so I took your advice and ordered them off ebay......19 days ago They're back ordered, and they won't know how long out until after march 1. FML Anywhere ELSE to get them? Or are there other available comparable options? Edited February 23, 2012 by SUNNY Z
zero
That's too bad, I ordered mine from ebay member goodygarage on the 4th and got them reasonably quickly.

SUNNY Z
apparently the squeaky wheel gets the grease! I just got a UPS tracking number from them saying they've shipped. the package is light though... 8#.... hope its a misprint
luseboy
Wait, I hope I'm not stating the obvious... But you do know that the 3099's require sectioning, right? Usually, people use them in the front and the (3015 if i remember correctly- the front s30 shocks) in the rear, giving roughly a 1.5" section for each side. This is what I've chosen to do. I'm probably telling you something you already know, but just thought I'd make sure you knew...
johnc
Wait, I hope I'm not stating the obvious... But you do know that the 3099's require sectioning, right? They don't require sectioning. You can put a spacer under the shock and run it in stock length strut tubes.
luseboy
They don't require sectioning. You can put a spacer under the shock and run it in stock length strut tubes. Well yes, you are correct. But then what's the point of using the 3099's versus just using the actual 240z fronts, the 3015's? And then what's the point of having coilovers anyways, since you don't want to lower much more than just lowering springs would go without sectioning. SUNNY Z
They don't require sectioning. You can put a spacer under the shock and run it in stock length strut tubes. OK now i'm super confused. When I spoke with you a while ago John, I told you that i was doing a ground control coilover kit, and planned on sectioning the struts. So are you saying that these won't be appropriate for my application, because i'm planning on lowering the car ~2+"? Anyway, I guess i have four of them now........ zero
With the 3099's in the front, you can either section the struts to fit the length of the insert, or you can add a spacer to make the insert fit the stock length of the strut. luseboy
Most people run a longer rear strut than front strut (not sure why but they do), although I'm sure the 3099 will work, it may be important to get a longer insert (the 3015). I'd definitely recommend sectioning... seeing as how you want to lower the car. Read the FAQ on it, and take your time. It should work out fine.
