tamo3
I have a chance to get to junkyard and grab Rear Break Bracket from '82 Maxia(810). It was really hard to get rid of rear axle stub. When I look at the rotor and caliper on Maxia, it looks similar to 280zx caliper and rotor. I wonder whether those are same thing or not. This is '82 Maxia This is '83 280zx A lot of people mentioned get Maxia bracket and get 280zx rotor & caliper. Don't we just need to get everything from Maxima? Just wonder... tamo3
SleeperZ
I am currently putting together a rear disc conversion that species a later Maxima ('85-'87) rear caliper. Perhaps there are rotor dimension differences, or parking lever position differences. I'd get both sets and compare directly...
tamo3
I should've measure the size when I pulled them. Maybe parking lever position differences.
akeboshi
I'm pretty sure they are different. I used 88 maxima calipers on a modified 88 bracket. I had some 83 zxt calipers on hand and they wouldnt go on with the rotor I'm using. Offsets were waaay different and the parking brake was cast into the zxt caliper if I recall. rejracer
Go to Rock auto and look up the parts by vehicle. Once you have id'd the part click on the part number, it will tell you what other vehicles that part is listed for. Based on that, the 82 maxima rear caliper is used on the following: NISSAN 810 1981 NISSAN MAXIMA (1982 - 1984) So the caliper is not the same. Now for the rear rotor: NISSAN 200SX (1982 - 1988) NISSAN 280ZX (1982 - 1983) NISSAN 300ZX (1984 - 1986) NISSAN MAXIMA (1982 - 1984) Rock auto's listings are not perfect, but it's a good start in finding parts quickly. tamo3
I found the answer here: post #160 http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/39435-help-what-brake-options-are-available-for-s30-z-cars/page__view__findpost__p__425419 Piston size is different. 280zx caliper has bigger piston. I should search harder.. tamo3 Edited May 22, 2012 by tamo3
