240zip
Is there a cleaner or method to make Weber (other similar DCOE's) look clean and bright? I use an ultrasonic cleaner (large) with a solvent to clean them. This seems to work well with the various carb parts. Unfortunately the cleaning doesn't do anything for the overall finish. Still looks matte gray. Is there a brightening agent that makes the pot metal (I assume it's some sort of pot metal) look nicer?
johnc
Look for an acid based aluminum brightener (Super S, Power Purple, JASCO, etc.) Test it on a small part first to make sure it won't damage the metal.
duragg
The heat and fumes and roadcrap foiled my efforts to do the same thing. They quickly returned to their native state.
Tony D
Aircraft Spruce sells Alodine which gives Mazak Bodies that GM Quadrajet Brownish look... Cars well plating sells many different compounds to brighten/plate just about anything.
Xnke
Pine-sol. Strip the carbs down to nothing but the aluminum bodies, carefully catalog what goes where, and soak them overnight in pine-sol. Make sure they are fully submerged. They'll come out VERY clean. Learned it from a motorbike guy...they're always cleaning sidedraft carbs of some sort or the other.
