Ozzie831
Is the PCV needed? Im in the middle of my turbo project and it's right in the way haha. (I believe my pcv is bad anyways) I have a small idea of what they do but Im not sure if I can just plug it and have everything be hunky dory afterwords or if i plug it and my car explodes. Rather have the info first before I do anything Thanks for any help
ttodhunter
The PCV is needed as it's part of a circuit. By disconnecting it, you have a break in a sealed system which will introduce vacuum leaks. I learned this in this post: http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/103938-alternative-afm-boot-replacement/?hl=intake&do=findComment&comment=972146 Good luck! BluDestiny
This is heading to the tool shed. Should have searched first
Ozzie831
Thanks hunter ill look more into it. Blu: I have searched. There are only 27 other posts that mention pcv this site and most are not directly linked to this question. I have read of some who blocked it but not much was said about it, thus me asking. Helpful comments please, they are appreciated
NewZed
Read the Emissions (describes the PCV system) and Engine Fuel (describes how the EFI system works) chapters of the appropriate FSM. There are diagrams and descriptions of function. You'll be ahead later also when you're trying to get the engine running. Search the whole internet using Google and you'll see what PCV systems are for. They're actually good for an engine.
4.6StangRage
PCV is needed to make it so the crankcase can Breathe. If blocked, you will likely have oil leaks. I would not eliminate this component.
