Onion
I can't figure out what these are for the life of me... I've asked a couple friends, all of which have no idea. Maybe someone on here recognizes these?
zguitar71
Onion. Like The Onion the comical faux news. Is this a trick question? Those are coil springs, not coil overs, on stock perches.
Onion
Onion. Like The Onion the comical faux news. Is this a trick question? Those are coil springs, not coil overs, on stock perches. Sorry, meant to say springs, not coilovers. No, like a regular onion. It started as a joke during a go-kart event. Someone asked what I wanted my nickname should be so they can show my score on the CCTV as the race went on. I jokingly said "onion, because my lap times will make them cry." It stuck lol. Also, I know that you have to cut off the perch and move it down if you plan on running this kind of setup, unless you run a very short and tight spring. Does this seem like it was cut and moved, or is it at the stock position? I've never had the stock Z suspension parts in my hands (previous owner did this), so I can't really reference it easily. BluDestiny
Yeah those are just stock strut tubes with some lowering springs. The springs look really compressed, and also like you're not getting a lot of shock travel. Doesn't look like anyone cut anything though. The car actually handles pretty well. Edited October 7, 2013 by Onion
winstonusmc
Those do not look moved. I moved my perches and the where the perch was left a slight indent where the weld had to be cut out. Also the new weld on the perch was closer to the taper of the perch.
zguitar71
Hey Onion, Sorry about being jerky with my response. After reading it I realize I sounded like an a-hole. No reason to be like that. The springs should be fine your not hitting the bump stops. If you add stickier tires you might start doing that and need stiffer springs. If you are hitting and like the handling then stay with what you have.
Onion
Don't worry about it, zguitar, I took no offense. I'm starting to toy with the whole coilover idea. I wonder how much better the handling could get if I put some more money into it. I just bought a new set of tires which are much grippier than my current set. I'm interested to see how the handling will be. Edited October 8, 2013 by Onion
