ESP-OFF
I'm going to be pulling my dash soon to put all phantom gauges in. My dash is pretty rough didn't know if the fitment on the covers are really good or am I just better buying a new dash?
psdenno
Big difference in price. It all depends on your budget and expectations for final outcome. Full dash covers can be a good inexpensive option, but if you're looking for originality and money is no object, a new or recovered dash is the way to go. If you're really ambitious, check some of the threads on DIY dash repair. Dennis
PLATA
There is no substitute for an original crack free, pliable dash with a deep color, I am in that fortunate club . But the choices came down to money and creativity, there is plenty of info on this forum as stated above. The complete/full dash skin is a practical solution if it is installed with care and good adhesive, I have seen some on Z cars and the only give away is the discolored glove box. FWIW. BluDestiny
Flock it. It'll look awesome, and be different than both a cover and an original. Problem would be finding someone close to you that could do that.
Josh280z
Another option would be to do redo the dash yourself. It is a very tedious process. Good luck with what you decide.
~KnuckleDuster~
The last dash cap I installed ended up cracking after the first year. Car was always garaged too.

cockerstar
DIY flocking seems to be pretty easy from what I've read online and fairly cheap too. This is probably what I'll end up doing on my Z with a cracked dash. RebekahsZ
Cap it. Why would you want to spend a lot of time on a component that does so little? Spend your time on the parts that make the car GO! Z dashes crack, so your $700 new one will to. My half dash cap is held on by the gauge pods and the defroster vents. No glue, no screws. It doesn't rattle or squeak. It has looked sharp for 20 years-no cracks.
