Hoover
Hey Folks, I may either buy another Z car this weekend, or use one I have in storage for this swap. Which engine/trans. mount kit are you guys using for 240z? thanks, Hoover
theczechone
McKinney engine mounts are proven and work well. Cxr mounts work but I have seen some that have failed. Not a well designed part imho. Edited March 1, 2015 by theczechone
EZpickenZ
if you can get a hold of Rick on here, he has some great billet Al mounts. i did have to fab up my own trans mount, but that is not too hard. im not impressed by the mckinney mounts. 900ss
The McKinney mounts are ok but imo the rubber/silicone mount parts they supplied with them are pants Fell apart with not much use and looking how they are made is not too clever. skyline240z
Let me know if you want my billet alum mounts. Rick

EZpickenZ
I like the way the engine is placed with Ricks mounts. I have attached pics. Please excuse the dirty engine bay. I'm still in the middle of the build and a shed/shade tree mechanic.
Hoover
thanks for positng, ezpickenZ. looks like your making some progress!!! what did you do with the transmission mount?
skyline240z
Thanks ezpickenZ for the pics. Sorry 05plsrt4, don't have any pics you're looking for. If someone can help that would be great.
05plsrt4
The engine looks alot further from the firewall than an inch in the pics posted by EZpickenZ. Or is that just the way the pics are?
helghast7
Based on that picture compared to my motor I'd say Mckinney's mounts push the motor further back.
900ss
For what its worth the McKinney mounts do "place" the motor spot on Am finishing fitting an RB30 to mine and I couldn't have asked for a better fit - engine n box wise Previously used an RB25 but the 30 seems to fit even better which sounds odd lol
EZpickenZ
Hoover, The engine may not be an inch, but i'll have to measure it when i get a chance. It is close enough that the valve cover breathers scratched the crap out of the hood latch down there at the back of the engine. I fabbed up my own Al tranny mount. It wasn't hard...just time consuming. I'll see if i can get a pic of the tranny mount if you want. I attached the "apparently" only pic I have of the engine mounts (only 1 side). They are very nice. Hoover
that is very nice. I'm near certain that it is the set I lost in my warehouse...LOL!!! I may look one more time. I'd love to see the trans. mount you made. thanks!
EZpickenZ
Here is the Al trans mount. I moved the OE brackets back and used a urethane mount to make it cheaper and easier to replace. I also took pics of the distance between the engine and fire wall for my own knowledge.
