rtodaro01
I am working on a VQ engine swap in a Datsun Z. I am going to have a system that reads off the ODB2. That said, how would I tap into a Tach, heat, oil pressure, Volts for my autometer gauges?
Tbcrow
Not sure how to source a tach on a newer motor. I'd google the specific motor wiring diagram, it will show which wire from the ECU sources to the Tach. The same is true for engine temp, oil pressure, etc.If that isn't available, Water Temp, Oil Temp and Pressure, and Volts are all fairly easy.Mishimoto (and many many others) make an inline sensor for your radiator hose. They work great and are very simple to install.I'd also look into a oil filter sandwich plate. From there you can tap oil pressure and temp sensors. Climber
Don't do that swap... Use an l28et instead, it can be a lot faster for a lot less money...
jthom5147
Can I ask why you would resurrect an 8 month old thread just to put some unsubstantiated opinions?
Climber
No.
mtnickel
while I can agree the L28ET is a nice period correct engine that's easy to swap and can make good power, it isn't NA. NA power provides a much different experience than a turbo car.
