endofzworld
When using a wood wedge when taking the head off does it need to be snug in there? Mine has a little wiggle room
NewZed
The wedge is there to keep the chain from falling down and off of the lower sprocket, and to keep the spring-loaded chain tensioner from coming out of its hole. So, it depends on where the wiggle room is. If the wedge is of the proper dimensions it should be possible to make it tight. Just hit it harder. Some people don't use the wedge they use a tool with a handle of the proper size to do both functions.

endofzworld
Would you be able to give me rough dimensions for that tool? I can easily make one out of wood
NewZed
What dimensions are you using now? You said that you have one. The numbers are all over the internet. Check a few sources and you'll probably find a common set of dimensions.
endofzworld
I used the dimensions from my Haynes manual 10 inches long with an inch and a half at the top. I put it in there and it doesn't seem right
