turbogrill
Hi It seems like some people like to refer to cams using a something like "it's a big 76 degree cam". What is 76? Is it overlap? One of the valve events related to piston position? It's obviously not duration. Seems like a vague metric for me.
skirkland1980
I know in drag racing guys say their car ran "a 40" when the first number is already known.
WhitleyTune
I believe it is overlap in advertised degrees, and I agree it is a vague metric!
Tony D
It's a Japanese Market Spec. There are specs published that relate the 72, 74, 76, 78 timing events. Nobody ran a 72 unless it was grandmas' car. Everybody in Japan seemed to start with a 74 as minimum street build.
