Fairlineguy
Looking at fuel pump options for my rb25 install into my S30 240z As the fuel tank is out would I be better fitting an internal pump as apossed to a swirl pot system? Any advise or photos of an install would be a great help.
seattlejester
On a stock tank? If it was in good condition and you could baffle the pump and pickup perhaps. Without an access point in the car though it could be quite tedious to remove the pump if it needs service or replacement. I think honestly if you had the room for it I would modify the stock tank with a rear sump, throw some baffles in, then as an extra measure run a swirl pot just to be extra safe. Neverdone
Depends on what you mean by better. A surge tank set up will reduce fuel starvation better than an in tank fuel pump, even with baffles. An in tank pump will probably be cheaper though. External pumps can also be loud. Of course you could put the pump IN the surge tank and that would reduce noise of it like these guys do. http://www.radiumauto.com/FST-R-Fuel-Surge-Tank-with-Integrated-FPR-P348.aspx You'd need a low pressure fuel pump to feed the high pressure fuel pump as well however.
