Thank you, my original hoodlach was a little messed up too so I cut it off too , I flattened it back out in a vice and cut the top off and built a box under it with flat bar for stability, painted it  and re attached it with bolts to it's original spot weld holes I drilled out in order to remove it

Ok, so you just modified the original, that's cool. Have you noticed any flex in the latch while driving? Is it only held on by the two upper bolts?

Mine is a bit too mangled for that (and I wasn't particularly gentle in removing it once I decided it had to go), so I would have to make the whole thing from scratch.

The box design looks pretty good, is it open from the bottom?

The current plan is to clone this https://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic13/10-1873 (because I think that's a little steep for two chunks of steel)

Nice I like that one in the link, yeah I only have the two bolts up top, I don't notice any hood bouncing while driving, I do have concerns about it flexing up like if I pop the hood and someone tries to open the hood without undoing the hook but as long as that doesn't happen it's pretty solid for normal operation. I have been thinking of just adding a third bolt underneath in the middle in the flat bar too!
