R32 RB20DET

I was wanting to know what size intercooler did the R32 have stock? and if the R32 motor would be

 

worth putting in my 280Z? and would the R32 half cut have every thing that I need to do the swap?

comes with the ECU.

the intercooler is about the same size as the ones they have in the z32 twin turbos but thinner and plastic endtanks. you can get 300-350 out of and rb20 but you have to build it internally if you want it reliable. they are good for burning the # 6 piston when you turn the booste up rockon.gif

all rb motor have problems with Number 6 cylinder because of poor water circulation. Just about everybody that ive ever seen blow an engine its been the number six piston that either goes first or is in the worst condition. Ive been told because of its hotter then the rest it tends to detonate first. eek2.gif

Hi all,

Stony is right #6 runs hot,

 

BLKMGK is also right that you can trim the injectors to run it richer in that cylinder to help avoid detonation,

 

BUT, what guys that race RB26DETT engines do here (and I assume elsewere also) is to modify the water pump itself for more flow!!!
