SleeperZ
Nice going! That's an excellent deal. I have just finished an install of a junkyard turbo motor in my '78 (I've been running a turbo for while, just go a new motor). I paid $150 for just the engine and a bad turbo, but it was a factory Nissan remanufacture with very low miles. I fired it up this weekend and boy does she purr... Guest Anonymous
Sweet! Mine was $160 (there was a $30 core). Do you have some info about the install anywere? It sure would help. Nic
inZane 240
Hey Nic I was just wondering which yard you got the motor from, and did you notice any other turbo cars lyin around? Thanks
awd92gsx
Damn. You guys got some smokin' deals! I paid $550 for my turbo engine, but...it's not exactly stock...still will need some work before it is ready to drop in.
Guest Anonymous
I went to the junk yard over the weekend and pulled a turbo motor. I think the Z gods were watch'n baby! It is super clean with Iridium plugs and a P90 head! I picked up the complete motor w/ ECU, AFM, Harness, Cooler fan, Intake/Exhaust, Turbo, New water pump, Dist., knock sensor, and some other crap for $190.00 . So, with a $200 budget I need to 'clean up' the motor. Just the very basics because I can't wait to play with my new toy! I figure change the head gasket, and brush clean everything. I can pick up new gaskets sets for pretty cheap, I was wondering if there is a stock component that always fails. I'm ganna do a search on Hybridz for motor installs, since I have the original ECU, AFM and dist. but shoot me a link if you have other helpful tips! Guest Anonymous
Hey InZane240, I got the motor from the Pick'N'Pull out in the Rancho Cordova Area. There were two turbo's and I got the last motor. There is a 300ZXT still fresh though. As for the 280ZXT's they are super hard to find. I have yet to look in the Rocklin yard (that will be on Saturday). inZane 240
Thanks for the info Nic. There isnt much here at the Stockton yard either. Only one turbo car here. It was stripped and the engine was filled with rain water. My search continues. Thanks Again

Lockjaw
I would not worry about changing the head gasket, Nissan puts a good one on it from the factory. Sounds like a good deal. Hell the plugs are worth more than the motor. HAHA Have fun installing it. Not that big a deal. I could do it, but describing it is something totally different. Good luck. Guest Anonymous
I'm getting excited ( not that way)... This week my multi-piece engine stand will be welded together as one solid unit and will have added supports. I think I'm ganna sneak the motor in the garage so I can tinker with it over the weekend. Sometimes, when I'm driving I pretend I can hear the turbo....ummm so soothing. Pretty soon, that won't sound all that weird any more...ha ha ha! Hey! Does anyone have a custom DP for sale? A used one would be sweet, since I keep spending my money on susp. parts! Nic yeah baby, yeah!
