Guest Anonymous
Can anybody tell me where to get this body kit? I know that it is made by Thomas Alsterfalk in Sweden but I cannot find any info on it.
80LS1T
That's a custom job right there! You might be able to get the front air damn from MSA and possibly the flares. But those side vents and tail lights are custom. Deffinetly lots of time at the body shop! Sorry! Guy
ZROSSA
I tried to e-mail him last year. No reply. The kit is all done buy themselves. Thomas made a air dam thats different to the msa in a big way. You just cant really tell inthe light that the photos are taken in. The flares are modified 911 turbo ones. Mabye he doesnt understand english, (fair enough, I cant speak any other language)hence no reply. IMHO this is the best looking air dam i have seen on a z. I might just go down to the shed and see if i can come up with something similar. Douglas
Guest Anonymous
The flares look simalar to the ones on the GTU-Z body kit that www.arizonazcar.com use to or maybe still offers.
Guest Anonymous
The photos are 15 years old. I made the car myself and I sold it 4-1/2 years ago to Norway. The rear flares were modified 930 steel. Front flares were 930 fibreglass. All vents functional. The airdam had 2 oil coolers, Hella foglights and 1975 VW Beetle turn signal lights. Taillights were 1984 Corvette. Panel between hood and windscreen had the stock vent closed off. Roof gutter removed. Rear wing is fibreglass 280 ZXR. Might not be the best looking but it was the best for top speed. Paint was Porsche Prussian Blue (33X) I speak English but my Z-car interest is behind me now. I dont have any tooling to make more copies of the parts. Thomas A. Sweden Currently own cars made by BMW, Nissan & Volvo
ZROSSA
Howdy Thomas, Thanks for the reply. Thats a mighty fine z you made there. Thats one of the best airdams I have seen for the z. I have a photo of a red one on my fridge. Its a shame about no longer having the moulds. Did you destroy them or pass them one to someone else? Guest Anonymous
Sorry, the part was modified by using flat sheets of fibreglass that were laminated into the air dam. That air dam had a problem. I was lifting it self in the middle due to aftercuring. With the oil coolers it got some added weight and stiffness to keep the shape. I originally bought this air dam from Impact Parts in N.Y. State in 1982 I think. (I am old!!!) I made several high speed "tests" to 275 km/h (7000 rpm in 5:th) but it was rock solid. Dont try this unless you dont have speed limits or you are friends with the local police. (I am and I have tuned their patrol cars) I made another version with the bumper moulded in. You might have seen that on a red car from Norway. Albrecht Graf Goertz wrote a nice comment to the owner about the modifications (front and rear bumper skirts) and the owner has most of the moulds I had for the parts. He also own's my old Z now. DavyZ
Thomas, you made the best looking 'kit' for a Z that I have ever seen; extremely tasteful and very well balanced looks. I wish I had that on my Z!! Davy
Kimi
Yes, it's a great looking car!!! Thomas, any chance that the owner of the car would be selling the Z in the near future?
Guest Anonymous
The current owner sent me the link to this topic so he can answer if the car is for sale (everything is to the right price). He also have some of the moulds. Thomas
jeromio
Check it: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911/Med_911/por_911M_chasis_pg1.htm Not so cheap, but made of steel. This place: http://www.gt-racing.com/catalog/GTRpg1-8.pdf has some fiberglass flares and airdams, meant for a 911 - might be adaptable though. Again, not cheap. Guest Anonymous
I used genuine Porsche steel flares. The steel is thicker but easier to reshape than the cheaper aftermarket stuff. Thomas
Mikelly
You do realize that the proper steel flares made for the Z are only a little more... $400 per pair, front and rear... VB sells them! Mike
jeromio
Yeah - personally I don't like the look of those VB flares. The Porsche ones on the car Thomas built look very nice. As to using genuine Porsche metal. Umm, err, $$$$ ?
Owen
Thomas, What kind of mirrors are those and how are they mounted? Excellent piece of work, man! Owen
Guest Anonymous
The mirrors were my own. I couldnt get the shape right on them but I sold a few copies anyway. They were glued to the window frame and "chrome" strip with black silicone. They stuck like they were welded on after curing for a few days. Before I had Porsche 911 RSR style mirrors but to see anything in them was difficult. Thomas
Guest Anonymous
Anyone concidered using BMW Z3 fenders to make a flared kit for the 240? It seems kinda obvious, since technicaly they're both Z cars. HA HA HA! Alright, I'm sorry... But seriously, that would look pretty cool, huh? Guest Anonymous
Those flares looks REALLY awesome. I think I'll either attempt to fabricate my own or buy the porsche ones. I can't believe you're not into ZCAR's anymore man. That thing is a work of art.

Guest wsilva
Can anyone repost pictures of this car, I would like to see how the 930 porsche flares look mounted on a Z. The link is dead when I try to click on it. Thanks!!
