ratedZ
Well, I got my TurboXS RFL BOV today and I'm going to install it (temporarily) so I can practice welding etc. I'm waiting for other things before I can do the intercooler. Soo, first question: Where do I attach the vacuum hose? I'm guessing that you can T off into an existing vacuum source? Second quesion...the BOV came with two types of adapters. The manual only mentions one. One adapter is copper and the other silver. The silver adapter is thicker than the coper adapter. Does it matter which one I use. I have an arc welder from Wallyworld and I'm ready to play lol. Anyway, I know these questions are basic but I couldn't find the answers in the archives. Thanks guys! fl327
you can put the vacum line anywhere, the orifice closest to the one where you get your vac signal from is the one you should use, if you use one at all. if youre doing an intercooler soon i wouldnt weld it on, you would be wasting the flange doing that i think. yo2001
I think the thin copper gasket goes between the flange and BOV. I'll be a POA to weld the flange with arc welder. You can weld it mig on the J-pipe and cut and reweld to the IC pipe when you get you an IC. Give us an audio so we can all hear it.
Mudge
Are you sure your going to be able to use an arc welder without cutting up your stuff?
ratedZ
OOHHHH YEAH BABY!!! this thing sounds friggen schweet! Thanks for the help guys and yes the welder worked perfectly. I still have the steel adapter and I will be using it for the final IC install. I used the copper one and it was pretty hard to work with that flange. I've been told that the mild steel will be easier to weld. Once the compressor bypass valve was installed, I didn't have to add any washers. It stays shut at idle and works great at WOT...psssshhhhhttttt. I made some kids on their way to school jump on the side walk this morning. It was priceless lol. I'll be taking a sound clip of the BOV sometime this weekend. I just need someone to host it for me once I have it.
Mudge
Sweet! If the size is somewhat reasonable I can host it, or I can try to put it in WMV format if you dont mind the Microsoft formats, they get pretty compressed that way, or DivX... ratedZ
Thanks Mudge...it doesn't really matter what format it is as long as it works but I will be taking the footage with a digital camcorder along with the sound. I'll load the clips into my Mac and format it with Quicktime. Soo...it will be the sound + the vid. I'll keep the size down but I will need to somehow get the file to you....maybe FTP? Thanks for the help!
Mudge
I have FTP available, or simple email, william@fortmason.org is set to accept up to 35MB files. QT is already usually pretty good compression, plus I view most of my clips in 2x size anyway
ratedZ
I'm using hotmail for my email account and anything over 1mb won't even go through sooo I would prolly have to transfer the files through an FTP server.

ratedZ
Cool! So I was going to shoot some video last night...started with some introductory and as I back out from the garage one cop passes by haulin arse followed by three more. Needless to say, I pulled the car back into the garage and took it as a sign I'll definitely have something by this weekend.
Mudge
I saw a chase last night myself, on the way home from the gym after midnight, see one car blowing a light going fairly fast, and see a cop in chase a few seconds later. I figure whatever anyone has done, if your running from the cops, it must be bad.

ratedZ
cool! thanks for hosting the vid ...I'm having problems accessing through this link ftp://zcar:zcar@64.220.147.228/ratedZ/ though
Mudge
If you just use ftp://64.220.147.228/ratedZ/ It will ask you for user/pass which is zcar (for both), are you using IE on a MAC? When I get to work tomorow I'll make an HTML page and just update this thread, that will be simpler
Mudge
I am freaking baffled, I setup a URL in an HTML just about a dozen differnet ways, and I get a msg "The FTP server returned extended information", however I can use IE just freaking fine? Very bizzare. I am curious and will probably play with it to find out WTF that was about, I even allowed login no matter how many users are on the FTP, made all lower case filenames, I am just lost on that one... Here is a live link RIGHT CLICK to save it, dont play it from the location http://docmudge.tripod.com/ratedZ.mov Incase you get a msg about bandwidth being exceeded, give it an hour and try again.
