utvolman99
I know this is a dumb question but if someone has a borg warner chevy 5 speed is that a T5? Thanks for the help and ignore the stupidity! You guys are the best!
V8ZRACER260Z
You are correct as I am running this transmission. As long as you don't side step the clutch it should hold up ok. FYI Mine is out of an 83 Camaro. Rick
Len
If I'm not mistaken Borg Warner T-5 was also found in the Ford Mustang 5.0. Len This is a first for me; using these little guys......Cool!!!!!!!
Mike C
T5 were installed in just about everything from Mustangs, to Jeep Cherokees, Camaros, and as well all know, 280zx turbos. Starting around '88 they upgraded to the "World Class" T5 which is 330lb ft torque rating vs. the 300 of the earlier trans. The WC T5 uses ATF instead of gear oil, has paper cone silencers and different speed gear bearings. All of the GM v8 trans have the 2.95 first gear. Guest Anonymous
Probably would be a T-5 as there were many more of those produced than anything else. There is however another 5 sp used in the 70's monza V8's, it was a T50 (I believe thats the model), I think it had external linkage and it has first gear in the pattern under reverse. I havn't seen one in years, but just thought I'd pass on that there was indeed another 5sp from BW that was available. Its used sometimes behind rover v8's in british sportcar swaps in England. Regards, Lone Ps: The T50 is rather weak, they put in behind that mouse motor 262 small block the monza had in it, much torque would probably kill it dead as a doornail (how dead is that anyway?).
