Guest Your Car is Slow
Stock L24 and 4speed were removed over the weekend....wonder what the car weighs now Amazing how large this engine actually is when compared to the LT1 And the Z with the hood, engine and trans removed. Bet its insanely light now Next up..cleanin up the engine bay of wiring and other various items no longer needed by the new setup.
Mudge
Engine bay already looks great!
80LS1T
Yeah what do you have to clean up? It already looks pretty good! Is there any rust that has to be removed? Or is that just dirt that I see in the picture? That looks nothing like my engine bay when I took the L28 out of my 280zx! Mine was a mess! Wires and hoses hanging everywhere. Now it looks very nice though! What year is your LT1? Look'n good so far! Guy
Guest Your Car is Slow
Oh the engine bay paint is/was mint. There are a few areas in the corner where brake fluid has eaten away the paint...so Ill need to patch that up....I meant cleaning up as in going through the JTR manual and rerouting cables, removing wires, and other various components that no longer need to be there. The car has only one spot of rust anywhere on it....and thats about a 2" diameter spot on behind the drivers rear rocker panel (in front of the drivers rear tire). Everything else is nearly mint on this car...the guy I bought it from had it restored amazingly. I feel really bad for tearing it up like this.....I almost kick myself for not selling it to someone who would have kept it in its stock form....and made a heckuva lot of money on it as I only paid 1500 bucks for the car as it is. Ohwell....the things we do to go fast. That LT1 is a 93 removed about 6months ago from a Z28 that was wrecked....got it from a buddy for 500 bucks...complete with harness and ecu. DavyZ
...the guy I bought it from had it restored amazingly...I feel really bad for tearing it up like this Don't even go there!!!!!!!! Ohwell....the things we do to go fast. DANG RIGHT!!! I'm weighing in opinion here, but I'll say it like it is: if the car is one of the VERY FIRST Z cars and is worth a lot of money, fine: don't "cut it up." HOWEVER, you must understand that the car is made for your enjoyment, no one else's, and it deserves one of GM's finest. You are actually helping the car, not hurting it. A well done engine conversion enhances the car and deserves accolades not criticism. Comprende? BTW, great work so far!!! Davy
Guest Your Car is Slow
Its number 4196 (yes its a 70) according to the vin. Certainly not "one of the first"....but in such good shape. Dont get me wrong...I dont have the time..patience..or desire to keep a "stock" restoration like this. I bought it for one reason only....to make it stupid fast however I do have respect for the car itself...in that its in such remarkable condition for being so old. however the first time I nail the pedal after the swap....those feelings will fall far behind
Racin_Jason
I have to laugh at this post... I spent hours and hours stripping, sanding and painting my engine bay. The kicker? It STILL probably doesnt look as good as yours does untouched!! Note to self: Next time you shop for a project car...SPEND THE DOUGH AND BUY A CLEAN CAR!
