Xander
Hi all, I'm new here and I have a question. Can anyone think of a reason why I can't just solder a fuelrail from household plumbing parts. I was thinking buying a meter of 12 mm tubing and sliding 6 T pieces over it and soldering them in place. I can then drill a hole through the T-piece for the fuel to go trough. Am I making any sense? Guest Anonymous
Uhhhhmm. Solder on any fuel application just doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Mike.
SleeperZ
What sort of fittings are you thinking of using? Copper solders well, and should be durable, but most fittings are brass, and would be tricky to solder. There is a VERY cheap option out there (besides just using the stock rail -- you can easily flow fuel for 300+ hp with it), and that is using the aluminum extrusion at $12/ft ($24), and tapping it for 5/16" brass barbs. Use 1/8" NPT for the injectors, 3/8" NPT for the ends, and mount the regulator on the right fenderwell by the return. My rail, built like that, cost less than $50, including taps. Xander
this is what i had in mind http://members.chello.nl/x.worrell/injector.jpg This is even cheaper than 50 dollar and can be bought at any hardware store. (no shipping costs to the netherlands).
DatsunBoy77
On the subect of fuel rails, i was going to make a custom fuel rail, and being a holley distributor, i can get 12, 18, and 36 inch fuel rails for fairly cheap. Would the 18 be too small, because i feel 36 is too long. The reason i ask is because i get them cheaper than 12 a foot and dont pay shipping. It cost me about $30-33 for the 36 inch piece.
