Hey guys, would a straight through dual 2 1/2" exhaust, on a RB26DETT be likely to be over 97Db, cas thats wat my states laws are i think :?

i dont think 2 1/2 is big enough for that enigne...........

I don't think DUAL 2-1/2" will be a restriction :D

But I don't know about noise - 97 dB is very loud, and turbos really take the edge off the noise, so you might be ok. Maybe just have a contingency plan to install mufflers...

i would suggest getting a crush bent 3 exhaust with a cheap muffler and a stainless tip, then pick up an electric cutout. stock type quiet exhaust for daily driving/cruising, open downpipe thanks to the electric cutout for racing.

a few guys i know with supras run this type of setup, and even on stock boost its an easy 20 rwhp jump for the cutout over stock type exhaust.

HKS makes a 100mm R34 exhaust = 7854 mm^2 x-section

2 x 2.5" (63.5mm) = 2 x 3167 = 6334 mm^2

For comparison, a 3" exhaust is 4560

So unless you going to be pushing about 1000hp, dual 2.5"s should suffice.

In Michigan (for comparison) the law states that at Idle, a car can't exceed 87 dBA, WOT 95-ish dBA. Drag strips have differnt rules obviously.
