Tim240z
If you're unloading it, I'll definitely be intersted in the hatch!!!!! Tim
denny411
I know everyones taste is different, but with the right paint scheme and wheel/tire combo, I think it could look pretty sweet with the kit. It looks like it was painted with flat black spray bombs. Almost any paint that shines would make it look better than it does now.
Guest 240hybrid
who butchered that Z... and I dont much care for that body kit or interior. Only nice lookin part is the rear pantera hatch, which alot of members are gonna want.
BRAD D
A lot of people were talking about that hood too.
spotfitz
Looks like something out of a Mad Max movie. Someone did go all out on trying to make it not look like a Z though. The rear fenders would be the hardest part to remove. It would probably be easier to just replace the fenders. No telling whats underneath. Sell the hatch to Tim240Z(he may even have one to replace it) and the back end is basically done. Replace front fenders, airdam then take the hood vent and put it on another hood. Lather, rinse and paint. Looks like an interesting project as is. Personally I would just remove the little vents on the left side of the hood and get the thing painted. I think it would actually look alright with a good '70's paint scheme
Guest grunt0311
Well I have an extra hood and hatch. You guys are making me think maybe I should just throw a 350 in this one and have fun with it. I was really thinking go original, but I found out late that it was an l28 so not the original motor although I have an early l24 also.It has tripple webbers and the guy swears it did run like a banshee...before his uncle went to ummmhhh a place with bars. I am going to have to put it in the garage and just look at it a while...So I guess to get bondo off of a body is like insanely hard? thanks for the input everyone, grunt0311 71 hybrid 350tpi/700r4 71 stock almost finished 70 rh drive ugglleeee
spotfitz
Getting the bondo off metal isn't that hard. I would be more concerned of what they did to the metal underneath before they did all this work. It may be a rusty fender or they may have just cut it up to build it out to hold the new "flares". Bonding fiberglass to metal takes care and patience. If they got in a hurry, who knows what you will find. Personally I don't think it looks all that bad. With the things that have been done to it, it may have been done early in it's life. If you don't see any cracks in the bonding areas you may not have a hard time getting the rear cleaned up if you still decide to go that route. It is a unique car though. A reputable shop may have done it. Have you checked into the history of the car?
t-tom
find a shop in your area that will media blast the car for you. This will remove the bondo, paint and everything else and let you see what you have. It shouldnt be to much to have it done. Its 400.00 here in kansas city to strip a z to bare metal.
80LS1T
Did you get this car really cheap or something? If you hate the body as much as you say you do then why would you have bought it? I agree with the other guys in the fact that with some TLC to the body and paint it would look pretty cool! As for the interio......Ewwwwwwwww that is UGLY! I would have to do something about that. But this is all up to you! Guy
Guest grunt0311
yeah, I guess I got it pretty cheap. I searched around and found out they were pretty small numbers for production, so I went ahead and got it. Now I am just wondering if I should fix it stock or just drop an LS1 into it....It has a hopped up l28 with an e31 head, tripple webbers, cam, exhaust etc....hmmm. Maybe I could learn to like it..The interior is almost gone already. It even made my garbage can look bad....Thanks for all the help from everyone on what to do. grunt0311 71 hybrid 350tpi/700r4 71 stock almost complet 70 rhd uggglleee...mmm well I guess I could get used to it
KiD-ViD
you could always just replace the whole body. why bother trying to get all that crap off when you can just go down to pick 'n' pull and get most of the body there. even better....do the whole body in fiberglass! now that would be wicked. 280Zen
Shoot, I'll take the hood, I'll even swap you a stock hood for it!, I also have a pair of front quarter panels of a 82 280zx coupe as well.
ZR8ED
Sorry but I kinda like the look... it sure needs paint, but it sure has an agressive look to it.. ok ok the interior is a bit ugly...but I'm sure that body is fairly unique..I've never seen rear flaring like that before.. But hey to each his own.. not everyone likes my car the way I built it either. Enjoy your new car, and I hope you get it the way you like it! Guest Anonymous
sell me the hatch if you don't like it! i actually think the car would look really cool if it had a nice paint job and the hood wasn't so messed... does anyone know where to get those hatches? i saw them on arizona z car but they don't make them anymore and are selling the molds....i really like the hatch!...interested in selling it? Guest grunt0311
Damn if I didn't take off that back hatch and put it up on blocks and look at it again. Now that the interior is gone and that hatch and another hood. I sort of like it. I think I might just leave it as is. Fix up the fiberglass and get this beast back on the road. See what it will do with the engine that's in it and if I don't like that go to a 350. thanks for all the input everyone. grunt0311 70 rhd uglee but looking better, maybe I am getting used to it 71 going to stock 71 350 tpi/700r4 pending
