Guest Anonymous
Hey guys, I'm a newb as you can tell and if you couldn't i want some of what your smoke j/k I have read a lot of posts on this forum and every time some one post a good n/a setup it's always with carbs. Has any one built a stout L28 with Fuel Injection. Most people now are converting to SU's or going Webber what about the guys who might want to stay FEI. I also got a nother question; has any one who started out origionally with FEI swaped to a different cylinder head because I would want to know if there were any problems in doing this. I personaly want to swap on a N42 head. One last question; I want higher CR but not too high i would like 10.1 but i here with flat top piston and swapping on the N42 head will produce a CR of 10.5ish what could i do to lower that down to 10.1. Sorry about the questions but hey you gotta to learn some how right.

Guest Anonymous
I found the answer to the head question, but i couldn't find anything on the compresion question. I also found some ok setups for EFI L28's with N42 heads but if any of you guys no some good all around build ups give me a shout please. Here are my goals for my car: I would like my car to be quick off the line with a good quarter mile time of i would say mid to high 13's(for a street car), but still stay very reliable. I was wondering if this could be done for about $2200 I know of a guy who has done for less so i'm shure it's totaly possible. So if you guys know of some settups that would let me achieve my goals let me know. Thanks.

Cruez
I'm running a L28 bored .020 with an N47 head, changed cam etc...... You will have to alter the stock FI a bit to get it to run somewhat correctly. I ran it on the stock FI for about a year and now am in the final part of changing it to a Haltech FI system. Quickest time 0-60 with that setup was 6.27 sec. Clutch started slipping, so I need to change that when I put the T-5 in....No 1/4 mile times though... Hopefully the Haltech will run a bit quicker since I can program the ignition also. With the compression I have, it is a pain on pump gas to find the best ignition timing...Had to find a happy medium but like I said the Haltech should cure that problem. Also get a good set of NGK racing plugs... or you will be eating plugs left and right.... I found that out the hard way...

Mudge
http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1292 Grab the L6 engine calculator. If you figure that your going to want to lower compression ratio, for optimum quench you are supposed to avoid using thicker head gaskets as a "band aid," since the N42 is an open chamber head though, maybe that isn't so critical. Guest livewire23
no-one answer his 1/4 times question? I'd say if you want to see 13s in under $2500, you either go turbo, or you try and do the budget V8 thing. I know the V8 has been done in under $2k, and in this months issue of grassroots motorsports was a 280ZX in the $2003 challenge with what I think was a SBC. So it can be done. I think. Install http://www.winzip.com , and then right click and select EXTRACT TO _____ (directory name), and it will make a folder of the same name as your downloaded Zip.
