Wagz
Does anyone know the difference between 240/260 cross-members and 280 cross-members? They are different part numbers in the Victoria British catalog. I need one for my 240. One of our members has several laying about, but we need to identify them. Ideas? 260DET
Could be that the North American 280 has a heavier/stronger front Xmember. My '77 260 has a beefier Xmember than the 240's, but is otherwise interchangeable.
zcarnut
Nissan changed the front suspension crossmember for the 260Z (because of the heavier 2+2 version). The later one is stronger and has some additional bracing for the steering rack mounts. Use the search function (keyword: "crossmember") to find one of my earlier posts for some more details/info. This issue came up before when we were discussing power steering.
280Zone
I got an email from someone on this topic and they said they had swapped them before and it was not any problem. It appears that the unit got stronger in the later years but they are interchangeable.
Wagz
Robert - Yeah, I called the guys at ZBarn and got the same info. I did a search on this forum, but couldn't find any decisive data. In any case, it looks like they will interchange. I sent you an email earlier. Take a look, and let's talk trade...
