Guest Iceickle
I'd prefer that 320hp gas turbine powered motorbike...

PETEW
Yeah, the liter bikes are the IN category now. I had my 2000 R1 and man was that a wheelie machine . This new one should be just unreal. It not only makes 180hp (crank) but it now has ram air so that should be better at speed. Kawasaki claims that they will have class leading Hp to weight ratios, though. I have seen some pics of th e Kawasaki and I think it looks good. The Honda has no official reports out yet, but I'm not too sure of their styling. It isn't the bodywork so much as the graphics they put on it. Next year I'll take a look at all the bikes. Right now I am happy with my new bike (used, but new to me ). I just bought a '97 TL1000S. The thing was pristine, not even 2800 miles. The guy was older and really took care of the bike. He actually changed the brake fluid every 2 years, I mean this guy really took care of it. Anyways I wanted a twin that could do everyday duty as well as go through the twisties, and all for less than $4K . With a couple mods it should keep me happy. I doubt it will keep up with these monsters in a straight line, but lets hit the back roads and see how brave they are .
spdsk8r
My son just bought a new 02 Suzuki TL 1000 R. He's been trying to get me to ride it. I DON'T THINK SO! Just looking at it scares me. I'll just stick to a little four wheeled two seater with a V-8.
Mikelly
Pete, You are like me then, NOT interested in straightline speed... I want to see them with worn knee sliders... Then they can ride in my world! Still, it will be nice... However, Keep in mind guys, that R1 number is crank HP. Makes it cranking out somewhere in the 160s at the wheel... The 03 GSXR1000 was making 160HP... At 380pounds! And Yami's are known to be twitchy out of the box... Mike
randy 77zt
ii bought a new 2002 fz1 last winter.think of it as an old mans r1.put a ivan's jet kit on it and a D&D slip on.also put on a kit to remove air injection smog junk.bike dynoed at 130 hp at the wheel with only 500 miles on it.its a little looser now.put a taller smoked windscreen on ,a black vinyl tank protector on back half of tank and factory yamaha frame sliders.reset the suspension settings.bike drives great.the 600 sport bike riders always give me the eye but i dont race people.i have been hurt on a bike before.its a full time job just watching out for people that dont see bikes.
