Guest Thurem Posted October 15, 2003 Share Posted October 15, 2003 Well, I moved to Mexico and it is all fine and dandy, except for one thing. They won't let me import my Z, and one is not available here. But judging from what I see on the streets, building your own car is perfectly acceptable. Now this puts me back to where I was before getting into Z's, I wanted to build my own car. I'm thinking something with a backbone frame (ie. trans. tunnel doubles as the main framestructure) and looks, similar to a Lotus super 7. Motor would be a nicely built 383 with around 425 to 450 hp. What I need now is to find sites with similar buildups for street or race. I also need sites with chassis parts like spindles, brakes etc. If you know of any sites like that please post.. '7' cars aren't very practical for every day use but since they are nearly all engine, the fun factor is very high. The other end of the kit car field often involves building Cobra look-alikes such as Factory Five Racing. Unfortunately it looks like their site http://www.divaroadster.com was somehow taken over by a restaurant... probably some wierd DNS error. Anyways, they look like this: http://www.bobsclassics.com/98d.htm Edit: BTW, that site shows a price for that car that is only about double what the Diva company charges for a turnkey. A roller is only like $6000. 55/45 weight distro with a SBC if I remember correctly. Weighs in at about 2000lbs. Would really like to build stiff lightweight car with optimized suspension and really big brakes and motor. Trying for that as fast as a motorcycle feel, with some of the advantages as a car. Does anybody have thoughts on necessary groundclearance/rideheight, and suspension travel? And, does anybody have a "free" program, fully functional, for designing suspension, and suspension geometry. Again thanks for all the replies.
