Guest polarity
Before you read any further, please realize I am only posting my OPINION and that if you have a closed mind about this topic, you might want to hit the back button before reading. Topic is drugs. I just wanted to post this because I think it's really beautiful. This song was written by a 20 year old with NO musical training. His parents bought him the piano when he was 10 and he has just played ever since. This song was written while he was comming off of a 3 week cocaine binge. He used the piano as a way to occupy himself. While I do not condone the use of drugs by anyone to my it just shows that even some of the worst things in life can still create beauty. http://www.neurosphere.ca/audio/cocaine.mp3 Be warned the file is 11megs but if you are willing to take the time, it is worth the wait. This has to be one of the best piano pieces I've ever heard.

Guest Venture-Z
Truly amazing, but I don't believe that drugs have much to do with talent. Talented people are talented, drugs or no drugs. I'm just glad he didn't kill himself in that three weeks, and rob the world of that beautiful piece of art. I used to smoke pot, and allot of it, and one of my favorite things to do while high was to play bass. I really felt it helped me play from the heart. I'd start playing, and just zone out, and all the sudden I'd look down and my fingers would just be going crazy, and awesome stuff would be coming out of the speakers. Now that I've been forced to clean up, "Air Force" I've been able to refine my skills instead of just playing with raw emotion. I still play from the heart, but now I don't need drugs to make me feel normal. Hopefully someday that kid will do the same. Drugs did some great things for me, opened some doors that otherwise wouldn't have been opened, and led me to meet some great people that I would've never met. I don't regret doing drugs but I'm a whole lot better off without them.
Guest polarity
Nicely said venture. Just for the record I was not saying the drugs gave him the talent, more of just the emotion and drive. He has since cleaned up his act alot but every time I listen to that song I can't help but stop and think about how good of a piece it actually is. Most musicians can go their whole lives without creating something that nice.. I should know I've been trying for years. Billy
Guest comeandzpa
That is a brilliant piece of music....I wish that I had the writing ability that he has. I have been playing instruments and singing since elementary school, and have heard a lot of music. This is by far one of the best pieces I've heard, I have heard a lot of really out there things. It's inspiring to hear somebody with no actual training be able to create something so beautiful.
Xander
Often when I hear realy great pieces of music it takes a while to get used to. Not with this piece. It immediately hit the right nerve. truly amazing. It reminds me of music by philip Glass. He wrote a lot of music, some good some realy good. (OK some of his earlier stuf is pretty annoying). But this piece has the same mood as the music from the truman show film. If you like this you might like Glass too. xander

JMortensen
That was nice. I'm not much of a piano fan either, but that was really good. What bugs me about drugs are the people who think that they are SMARTER on drugs. I had one stoner neighbor who is barely literate tell me how he read Shakespeare stoned and "he really understood what it meant" but he couldn't understand what it meant sober. I asked him if he wanted to test that theory on some Shakespeare I had studied in school, and he declined. I think drugs trick you into thinking you know what you're doing. I had another friend who plays guitar, and he was convinced that he could play the entirety of "The Wind Cries Mary" by Jimi Hendrix until he sobered up and couldn't do it anymore. The best story though is a buddy of mine who used to freestyle BMX. He had to be stoned to learn this one manuever, which consisted of riding forwards in a slight turn, than spinning 180* and rolling backwards from there on the front tire only. It was pretty cool looking, and he was the only one who could do his drug found talent sober. He said that pot helped him feel his balance, and for some reason "click vision" helped too!!! Click vision while rolling backwards in a nose wheelie... FWIW, I think all drugs should be legalized, but if you end up in a ditch because of them, no one should be required to help you, and if you commit a crime to get drugs you should get serious jail time.
