Drax240z
I have a couple of customers who are looking at an SDS, so I figured I'd throw out some feelers as to whether anyone here wants to get in on a group purchase and save some money. http://www.sdsefi.com - Pricing and options are available here. Basically it will go something like this: - If we get 10 people, cost will be SDS's listed price -20% for each of you. I will get a 25% discount, and the 5% unaccounted for will cover the cost of me shipping the product to you. - I need a replies indicating who is able to get me money before January 15th. That is when I'd like to go ahead with the order. (yeah I know around christmas time isn't the best for people) I really need definate answers, so I can see what kind of discount we can get as a group. If you are a 'maybe' please state it clearly in your post. - SDS will ship directly to me, then I will ship to you. SDS doesn't drop ship anymore unfortunately. - Payment will likely be made to me via Paypal for simplicity. For those of you that don't know, SDS is a fuel and spark control system that is user programmable. It works off a hand held programmer screen that is included with the kit. No laptops. It is hugely advantageous over most stock EFI systems and can help you make big power safely. 4 cylinder, 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder units are available. Installation takes a weekend. It is quite straightforwards in every regard, and highly recommended by me.
auxilary
damnit, if only sds supported rotary and had own engine management system, i'd be all over it
Drax240z
Aux, I know they support rotory's with their D system, which is fuel only. It might be worth giving them a call about a spark control system as well, as they do advertise that the SDS works on Wankels. (but I'm not sure its beyond fuel control)
stony
they do work with rotary just cant control oil injection on the turbo II rotaries
Guest 73TPIZ
Drax, been thinking about SDS for a couple of months for my TPI setup. Interested in SDS for a year now. Runnin' MAF now and don't want to go to MAP and have to guess at every chip burn. Also I may supercharge or turbo later. Was on the fence and you just pushed me over it. So yea count me in and I have Paypal ('car'ma?). BTW this would be my first stab at programming so could they or someone set me up for a baseline based on my info. I could learn on my 305 while building my 355 or 383 bottom end. Computer illiteracy makes this setup seem right for me. Thanks.
randy 77zt
best thing for lubing seal on a rotory engine is running a little two stroke oil in gas-like 100to1.ditch the mazda system.might be interested in sds but have lots of bills lately. auxilary
they do work with rotary just cant control oil injection on the turbo II rotaries well, sds also doesn't control spark/timing, so I'd have to ditch the crank angle sensor and find a distributor from an FB rx7
Drax240z
I've got 2 yes's, and 4 maybe's at this point.... Lots of time left though.
fl327
will this work for AIC?
stony
AIC???? it controls your primary injectors. you can install bigger ones and not need an AIC
Drax240z
No it is just on complete systems. However, if we get 10 or more, than we can get an AIC at the same discount. It just doesn't count towards the 10.
datsunlover
Drax: I assume you have used this system on a vehicle.. is everything included or are there hidden costs? (other sensors to buy, ect.) Moreover, can I get in on this group deal, have it shipped to me, and make it work (without any more expences) on my Z? I have a 75 280z and want to updete the FI and this would be a good setup I think... You say you need 10 of us for a discount; would this be for Z's only or can you still get the discount if ppl want differing systems? What I mean is, if you get 5 guys wanting the basic package (ex; em-4d), and 5 that want diferent/more expencive units (em-6e/msd) how does the pricing work? Does SDS just give you 20% off the total end price for 10 units, or 20% off each individual package?
Drax240z
Best bet is to check out http://www.sdsefi.com/prices.html I am using this system on my Z, and I am very pleased with it. You would need to either get your sensors from SDS, or pick up the necessary GM sensors yourself. (which would likely save you money) The group deal includes the cost of the unit being shipped to you. This group buy/discount works for any of the units, be it for 4, 6 or 8 cylinders and in any combination of units, with any options. SDS gives me 25% off if I get 10 units, and will only ship to one destination. (in this case, my shop) The 5% discrepancy is to cover my costs to ship the units to each individual person. (hence the 20% discount) If we don't get 10 units, I can still work out some other discount, 10-15%.
Guest Straight6
i'm interested.. how much are we looking at here? keep me posted.
Drax240z
It depends entirely on the options you want: http://www.sdsefi.com/prices.html
Guest 240zxt
Wow, thats a really good deal. Is there anyway the deadline could be pushed back a little farther? Im not sure if I can have the money by then, that is, if its not too late already. Michael
Drax240z
Start saving, and I'll take a bit of a poll among thsoe committed and see if they would mind bumping it back a bit.
Guest 73TPIZ
Drax, Any deadline's fine w/ me. Concentrating on gettin' the Z ready for the SEZS in Ga. in March. Even if i got the SDS now it'd be a paperweight till summer. i'll just put some $ to the side and you let me know when you decide to do it. thanks
Drax240z
I've had no objections from those I've asked, so the plan is to push it back 1 month, to February 15th. This will hopefully let people recover a little more from the holiday financial crunch and still give people enough time to purchase and install before any summer shows/events. Hopefulyl we can get a few more people as well for a better discount.
Guest 240zxt
Well, I'm sorry to cause everyone the trouble, but I'm going to pass. With the Z not even running yet, I'll put the money into that before I get the SDS. Sorry again! Michael
