Guest jjohart
I have found a set of 16" wheels I might want for my 83 280ZXT 2 + 2. They are 7.0 width front, 8.0 rear, and come with 205 55 16 tires front and 225 50 17 in rear..will this sizing clear my fenders and brakes ok? The spacing is 114., and they're Star Sports. Thanks John
Guest Anonymous
Fit will depend on the offset of the wheels. What did they come off of?
Guest jjohart
Please, please, don't buy these wheels unless you can definitively tell me they won't fit my car (83 280ZXT 2 + 2)...I have my eyes on em' but haven't got a reply from the seller (comments about seller appreciated)! blueovalz
My 240SX has a lot of backspacing (over 5" I believe, and tyical of a FWD set-up). The auction title indicates that the backspacing will require spacers if used on your 280ZX, and may be very close to what would be needed in using the '84 300zx wheels on your car. Guest jjohart
Aye, yi, yi...I'm not being funny, I just don't see what it is in the ad on Ebay which amounts to sizing requiring a spacer. Can you possibly explain what data you are seeing that allows you to figure this out. I mean, I could have easily slapped on the "buy it now" feature, and then have a lot of aggravation in trying to mount them...perhaps this is why the seller isn't responding to my queries. Anyway, if you look at the MSA Christmas sale supplement on the online catalog, you'll see a classic Z with these wheels (sizing not disclosed, obviously, since they're discontinued!), but all the more frustrating for me, since these are the perfect wheels for my wire wheel fixation (granted they're mesh, but that's the next best thing!). SO, all in all, are these wheels (tires) worth what they're asking for them? Thanks John-83 280ZXT 2 +
blueovalz
They look very nice, but like I said, I've got an S13 (240SX), of which I've bought wheels for it. The wheels that fit on an S13/S14 have a lot of backspacing, which I believe will interfere with your struts (springs). You've got a few days to buy them, so I'd suggest you find a salvage 240SX wheel and see what I'm talking about. The puzzling thing about the description is the offset. It is only 12mm on front (which to me says 4.5" in and 3.5" out) and 6mm on the back (4.75" in and 4.25" out). Some one make sure I'm correct here. My SX wheels were 5.3" in and 2.7" out, and they are a good fit between fender and suspension.
Guest jjohart
All I can say is, thank you and $#@you! Thanks for saving me from spending all the money on those wheels, fitment unseen and probably a load of trouble for my 280ZX were I to just "buy it now"!! The obscenity mistyped isn't for you, it's for my damn car's offset, etc, which makes it one tough son of a B*(#& to find decent 16" wheels for-see my topic under wheels etc)!!! Thanks again, you and the web are keeping me from spending with my !@%^& instead of using my head first! All apologies for lack of grammare! John P.S., the funny thing is, these wheels came up when I searched for "280ZX wheels" on Ebay...yet the description of S13, S14 is for 240SX, right? Kinda fishy, eh? fl327
the seller is wheelchoice.com, and they arent very good at answering emails in general.
DatsunBoy77
According to that offset listed they wouldnt fit a stock 240sx anyways. +12 in the front and +6 in the rear. With coilovers those should fit but may require a small spacer in the front.
blueovalz
To make matters worse on ebay stuff, there is an R200 for sale on ebay that lists it for all the Z cars and the SX. The photo is of the newer (short and wide) R200 (looks like the R230 in shape) type, and the seller says it would be a great differential for the Z car. Some hapless buyer will see that and buy it, ignorant of the work involved just to make it and the CV joints work under a Z.
zliminator
and they need a spacer on the front and back - I have Toyota 4 piston calipers on the front and 300ZX calipers on the back. I have a spacer on the front and I'm shopping for a set for the back. I need about an extra 1" to clear the caliper.
