RB20det in a 280zx

RB20 swaps can be had fairly cheap, at least in a 240sx. I completed one for under $2000. Venus Auto runs a sale on skyline front clips every once in a while for $1200. for the 240sx you can use stock drive shaft and a skyline front cross member. so, the swap itself is very cheap. not to mention that the turbo DP bolts on to the front of the catalytice converter in the 240sx. i had it running in less than 4 days, intercooler plumbing wiring and all. its a pretty nice motor. I have heard the stock bottom end is good for about 400rwhp. thats about the limit on an L28ET. so, your not gaining any hp, and your losing torque. It does make for a very nice "gee Whiz" factor though....

for those of you who dont know that is a zr-200 rb20 z31. that is the way they were stock in japan. this is car i got motor mounts from for my s30 rb26 swap

Does that make this rb20 clip a direct drop in versus the skyline rb20. Also does it come with a top mount IC like that?

The Skyline RB20's have a smooth cover.

sorry your wrong. the same timeframe skyline motor came with the same valve covers.

You're kidding me, right? Again, please need to look at the earlier posts. As I stated earlier, some driveshaft mods may be needed, but everything else is there. Engine, 200ZR mounts, computer, harness, rear sump oil pan, correct pick up tube, and stock intercooler. I have not seen anyone else offering anything nearly as complete as this, and you are insinuating that without the driveshaft it is not a "drop in" kit. I guess I could make it a perfect "kit" and just ship it already installed in a car.

Actually, the driveshaft from an RB25 (the R33 GTS-T) that was mentioned WILL NOT WORK with the RB20. Remember the RB20 is the motor we are talking about here, not an RB25 or 26. The RB20 tranny is substantially smaller than the RB25 and uses the same input yoke as an L or SR series motor. The RB25 shares it's yoke with a Z32 or a D21 pickup truck.

well if you want my opinion dont even do the swap if you are going to put the rb20 tranny in there. It is a POS and will break before the stock L tranny would. Do youself a favor get the r33 5 speed. It is much stronger and bolts right up.
