auxilary
So, I just walked out of a meeting we had for our group. There was a musky smell outside. I didn't like it, so I said "damn, that stinks!" 5 minutes later, i"m at my desk, and I can still smell that shit. Very strong, musky BO. Of course, I say outloud "goddamn, something smells. You guys smell anything?" Responses say "no." I yell to my coworker "Scott, you smell that shit? that reeks bad! Come over here and smell this!" reply comes "no, i don't smell anything" I get up, walk over to scott's cube, only to realize he has a user in his cube that's turning away as I approach. I try to play it off like "damn dude, it's coming from WAY over there" and point at the other cube, but damage has been dealt. I go back to my cube, sit down, going "damn, that sucked!" Scott then tells me (after the user leaves) that the guy heard me, and told Scott "that's me...." and walked away.
JMortensen
Well, someone had to tell him. At least you weren't being a jerk, just stating that something smelled pooish... Maybe he'll shower before work tomorrow, or get rid of the patchouli (sp?). Jon

Mike kZ
If the guy knows he reeks, why dosesn't he do something about it? I hope it wasn't your boss

Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
It's Mr. Steeenky I think... I think that was from Dr. Dolittle or something
DavyZ
This can be a very touchy HR issue and the company can get sued if this is not handled in the proper way, believe it or not. If the guy is getting complaints about BO or some medical problem (there can be many that make one wreak), it must be addressed by management properly. He can't go around stinking up the place if it affects his co-workers. I'm VERY happy I don't have to deal with that crap Davy
SportZ2
No matter what, it's very funny when guys on this site use words like "dodo" and "pooish". Cracks me up. Thanks for giving me something to laugh about in a very crazy day.

It does have a funny effect though.

I'm VERY happy I don't have to deal with that crap Davy We had some nasty people where I used to work. There was the guy that lived in his car and had nasty crust falling off of his head and stank like he was the inspiration for deodorant. The booger-bandit... who left murals on the restroom walls any time he was at the urinal. Then there was one guy that was just disgusting. He (at least it was believed to be him) crapped his pants and left his tighty-whiteys, err, should say soggy-browneys laying on the floor in the restroom. (But yet he still managed to clog the toilet too!) He must have had something saved up for a month!
EvilRufusKay
I like your use of the term "user". Does that make you a provider? Another interesting note...we have a guy at work just like the one you described...he works in IT!!!! Straight from the computer at work to the three at home...never showers...always wears the same clothes. He knows his sh^t though, and if you need you system up in a hurry it is worth dealing with the stench!!!
auxilary
yeah, but you know, your IT guy needs to figure out that he can take a 15 minute break between games of everquest to take a shower.
