Mack
a big, stinking pile of bullshit. recently a mercedes 280E came into a local pic-n-pull. It had a dual cam, 2 valve per cylinder, crossflow head. mechanical fuel injection and a "110" series motor. I pulled the head hoping that all the rumors that have been floating around the internet for years were true, but alas, they are not. I took the head apart and snagged the headgasket, took it over to where I pulled the LD28 block out, and put it up against the LD28 head, which granted isnt exactly the same as our venerable L series head.... but for comparison purposes.... the headbolts are all wrong, the coolant passages are wayyyy off AND! the head is about an inch shorter (length-wise) than the L head. bore spacing is NOT the same. so, back to square one, and the KADE head idea..... Drax240z
My experience is that all Datsun related rumours floating around the internet are wrong... There are a lot of things stated as fact out there by people that have just no idea at all. One nice thing about Hybridz.org, 90% of the people that state something here actually know something about it!
johnc
The Mercedes head rumor has been around since the 1980s. If it was true it would have been exploited by hundreds of people since then. Then there's the N36 intake manifold rumor...
auxilary
what's the n36 rumor?
gramercyjam
Hey, the N36 performance intake isn't a rumor. It's a fact. I know a guy who met a guy that had a friend who's brother read it on the Internet!
JMortensen
The N36 rumor is that the 260Z intake manifold is worth 10hp vs the 240 manifold when running SU's. Supposedly Rebello uses only the N36 for their ITS buildups. Always struck me as BS, but who knows... Jon
gramercyjam
I had an N 6 and compared it side by side with E36 or what ever was bolted to the '72 SU's and couldn't see a visible difference between the two. At least not enough to want to take the trouble to move the carbs to the N36 instead of selling the N36.
