Drftn280zxt
The toyota calipers everyone refers to are the calipers off a 1987 Toyota 4x4 right? Do these calipers bolt right up without any modification or additional plates to my 1979 280zx? Thanks for your consideration and great replies, much better than got-z ever was? Clifton
79-85-solid rotor calipers are all the same, 4runner intro in 84'. 86-95 vented rotor. pick up and 4 runner- 4 cyl calipers have staggered piston sizes 1.15" and 1.5". V6(started in 89') pickups and 4runners all use the same calipers, 1.5" and 3 fins on the outside of the caliper. I don't know if the 1.5" calipers started in 89' with the intro of the V6 though or a little later but it's only the V6 models.
Drftn280zxt
does the 87 4x4 caliper bolt right up though without modification or accessories?
Kennysgreen280zt
Look, I used the search and came up with the answer within 4 topics. : http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=7630&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=280zx+toyota Hopefully that link works. Drftn280zxt
so the toyota calipers only work for the Z's not the ZX's? If this is true then I'm glad I found out before I bought some. Also if this is true back to sqaure one. I guess I'll just get OEM calipers performance pads and stainless lines.
Cody 82 ZXT
Better pads and braided lines will help out tremendously.
Drftn280zxt
yeah I'm sure they will and at this rate I'll probably be taking this route. But what I'm trying to clarify is, are the Toyota Calipers only good on the Z's and NOT the ZX's? (another way of saying it is do those Calipers only work on the 240Z,260Z, and 280z?) Drftn280zxt
All righty then. I'll be buying reman- calipers for the front along with performance pads and stainless lines. Anyone here tried the MSA semi-metallic performance pads? Are they worth the money versus stock replacement pads? The stainless are definitely in for sure. Cody 82 ZXT
I've got KVR pads on mine and I've been very happy with them. If you haven't already make sure you completely flush your system of old brake fluid and use some high quality fluid to replace it.
Drftn280zxt
I'll probably just replace the brake fluid with NISSAN brake fluid since I get it for free anyways. KVR pads?Never heardof them. Anyone know if the performance pads from MSA are worth the money (the semi-mettalic ones?)
Drax240z
Not sure about the MSA pads but I can vouch for the KVR's. A great street/autocross pad in my experience, really wakes up a stock braking system. http://www.modern-motorsports.com sells them on the web.
