Guest ON3GO
reason for asking is i was looking at my P90A head and its got solid lifters, and i thought thats werid... then talking to Juan (V8dats) he said he has the same deal.. so then if some A's are solid what makes them different then just the reg ole P90? mike
JMortensen
Jap imports have solid lifter P90a IIRC
RB26powered74zcar
I also had a spare P90a with solids that I sold. I think during the production change, they just used up what ever casting was on hand, not worrying about the "a" being on it.
evildky
I had no idea some of the A's came with solid lifter pedestals, I have to A's and both are hydraulic, lucky me

ezzzzzzz
Excuse my ignorance but how do you quickly determine if the lifters are solid or hydraulic in a P90a head. Is there an obvious visual cue?
JMortensen
If you know what the regular lash adjusters look like then look for those. The hyd heads don't have the adjuster.
ezzzzzzz
I'll pull the valve cover and look. I picked up an 82 ZXT to part out and pick through. The engine apparently has one dead cylinder. Maybe a bad hydraulic lifter, burnt valve, or damaged piston/rings? The body is mostly clean though. It's complete except for the CAS (don't know why it was removed except maybe for another Z). I was thinking about turboing my triple dellorto 240Z down the road.
v80z
Guess I missed something. I thought P90 and for that matter all L motor heads are OHC. No Lifters. The rocker arms are made of solid metal. Not sure what you guys are talking about. Educate me.
olie05
on our ohc engines the "lifter" is the part that is bolted to the head that the rocker arm pivots around. On some P90a heads this is hydraulic, and on others it is manualy adjustable and solid.
