Mikelly
Somebody have a single 280Z strut housing they can send me? I need it to cut sections out of... Seems the race cartridges Ross got from Koni will NOT fit into my 240Z housings I was gonna use as replacements for the sectioned strut episode... I need one to cut sections out of to extend the originals Ross sent me. Somebody save my bacon here... Mike 8)
JMortensen
I guess you've already tried removing the paint from the strut and honing the tube...
Mikelly
John, I thought about that... The struts are a squeeze. I might be able to do that, but I'd rather just keep the larger strut tube and weld the section into it, since the coil over kit is for the larger 280 strut. datsunlover
I'm going tomorrow morming to look at some "Datsun Z280 stuff" (thats how the add reads, seriously!) This guy is cleaning out his garage, and all this "stuff" has been there for years, from when his son tinkered with an old Z. List I got (partial) was front fenders, a hood, drivers door, front struts/assy's (?) a transmition (dono if it's 4 or 5 gear) and a few boxes of parts. I get the feeling the guy won't want much for the whole lot.. He told me on the phone; "...Well Im jus cleaning out the garage, and figures I'd throw it in the paper incase anyone wanted, or can use the stuf, ya know?" I think it's worth the 30 min drive to check it out.. I'll let you know if I get some struts you can use. If so, you can have them if you wana pay shipping.. datsunlover
Well sorry, but that guy was a crack pot. The hood and fenders were ok I guess.. passenger door was not bad, but gutted, trany was jamed in 1st gear and I'm pretty sure it was only a 4 gear, and the front struts and crossmember were from a 240.. pretty rusted too. AND to top it off, I asked him what he'd want for me to take the whole lot away, and he figured "well.. a couple hundred would do it.." (I need the little smiley guy smacking the other one) Yah.. I left. Maybe in the spring I'll drop by and take it all away for scrap for him..
