It's surprisingly not THAT powerful compared to backyard built SBC's I've seen.

 

Here's the lowdown:

 

AFR 205 heads

12:1 compression

FAST 90 intake and TB

G5-xx hydraulic cam

LG PRo Long Tube headers.

I have those headers, and I've had to deal with LMG in the past for tech info and parts... unless you deal direct with Lou, forget it... most of the folks he employes are without clue. And Lou is NOT there much between February and October, since he races most of the year. He also has a real bad rep for getting into heated confrontations on corvetteforum, as he does NOT like competition in his parts business... I've been trying to get a 2.5 inch band clamp from him for over 6 months! :roll:

 

Fast car though, none the less! :lol:

That is indeed an SCCA Trans Am series tube frame, Vette bodied car from a couple years ago. That car makes way more than 535 rwhp. The 535 number came from a different car, which is Lou's SCCA World Challenge Corvette from this year, which is production based and has a built LS6 in it (built to a rules package that somewhat limits power.)

 

The Trans Am series car runs a 310 cubic inch carbed motor somewhere around 700 hp at the crank. Basically a lighter, bteter handling version of a NASCAR racer built just for road racing and with a sports car body. This was obviously just a fun run. You gotta love 13.5 at 125. Wonder if the clutch survived, as it's only designed to get the car into and out of the pits, no standing starts in Trans Am.

I didn't watch the second video until your post. They are definitely different cars. The first video is the Trans AM car, the second video is the World Challenge car. The WC car ran in the 10s at 140. I'm sure the Trans Am car is at least that fast if it would hook, which it won't. Lou stated on the WC board that he actually spent a small amount of time with the WC car prepping it for drags, like smaller brakes, etc. He also said that he ran more unrestricted in the 140 mph run than WC rules allow and that he went through several axles in the process.

Haha -

Imagine my surprise to find these videos here, while searching for info on CV axles!

 

I actually went to college with Lou's son Louis whom I still talk to from time to time. In fact Louis is one of my main sources of advice when it comes to the LS1 powerplant I intend on shoving into my HybridZ. My other main source of advice on the LS1 is a former employee of LGM who I also went to college with who is currently employed with another motorsports team.

 

MistressMotorsport is spot on with his/her posts. I remember when these vids were first posted. These cars were definitely not made for the drag-strip at all. If I recall they were just taking them to the strip to poke around, have fun, and see what they could do - traction wasn't even expected.

 

As far as your band clamp goes Mikelly - I dunno what to tell ya... I don't work there, nor have I personally ordered parts from them yet. Of the many many people I know that have - most have gone off without a hitch.

I'd suggest calling up the shop again just to check up on your order.
