pjo046
http:// http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=7941060363&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW Is this something? It's not watercooled though, something I'd like to prolong it's lifetime. Also I'd really like a turbo with an internal wastegate, so I wouldn't have to modify the exhaust manifold and downpipe etc... But how will this one perform on a L6 (When it comes to lag, spool up time etc)
pjo046
This one might be even better? http:// http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=7941195317&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW This has watercooling, and supposedly ball bearings as well? Has 0.5mm shaftplay though, don't know if that has anything to say? Also, how will this one perform on a L6 engine???? Is this one overkill if I want a responsive turbo that kicks in quite early? RB26powered74zcar
you'd be taking way more of a chance buying that well used looking turbo than I would..... I think you can do better than that if your not in a hurry...
cygnusx1
Try Alex Costa, he sent me a rebuilt T3/TO4B setup that fit the exhaust manifold and downpipe perfectly. All I had to do to make it fit was a larger intake tube and bend the wastegate actuator arm and bracket to line up. He is "zcarsmakemyheadhurt" on this forum. Reasonable price and good lead time. RB26powered74zcar
I'm not saying THIS is the turbo for you, but look at what is online for less than that used turbo you showed, and this is brand new to boot. If you can figure out exactly what specs your after, you can probably find one at a good price, and new at that....

With that small error I would doubt if it's even BB. With the stage 3 it would spool pretty soon on an L28 though. Ball bearing turbos have very little. A new bushing bearing turbo will have about twice the shaft play than a well used BB unit. Some play is neccesary. Without seeing it first hand it's hard to trust someone say it's BB though. As long as the wheel isn't touching the housing It will be OK. I recently bought a T66 on Ebay. I replaced the bearings and compressor and turbine seal for under $25and now it's as good as new. yo2001
Joel, that turbo you linked, it's not a 57 trim. 57 trim got almost 3 inch major with 2.228? inducer. Also standard 57 trim comes in a .60 housing. Actually took a turbo just like that apart and found 42 trim with some odd 12 blade turbine wheel. I would say stay away from it. Also, I would stay away from a used Turbonetic turbo. Their BB is not same as Ballistic concept by Garrett and it really doesn't work. Looks like 60-1 with stage V wheel.
