Hypertek
Are these considerably alot lighter in wieght over say factory 70-73 bumpers? I know these wont offer any protection, I just think something looks better then no bumpers (I dont like how that looks without anything)
Tim240z
Use the search function, please. These questions (along with your other post) have been asked and answered a million times. Also, while you are at it, read all the 'stickies' at the top of the forums, esp. the rules post. Tim
Guest 73Turbo240z
at MSA's listed 50lb shipping weight.. seems kinda counterproductive if weight reduction was the goal
Owen
Yeah, they charge you the volume weight of the box when shipping. I hate mail order cuz sometimes the shipping costs more than the item itself! Owen
Bartman
Hypertek, The fiberglass bumpers are definitely very light. Call MSA, and talk with them about it. Since your in SoCal, you can avoid the shipping costs by picking them up yourself. As Owen said, the shipping cost is high because of the volume not the weight. Metro
I'm not great at guessing weights, but I'd say they're around 3-4lbs, the rear is pretty flimsy too.

Here comes trouble
I have this set from Origin Z who made the fiberglass convertible cap a few years back. I want to make up a couple 2 piece molds for them.. Yes they would be lighter than the steel originals but not much... Actually if you utilized a steel strap behind them.. the fiberglass ones would still be lighter and about as strong. I plan to get back into my fiberglass "therapy" in a few months. Nismo280zEd
I'm with ya on this one... I'm about to make my own bumper, layn' glass over the 280 chrome one I have and mount it to the bumper struts but have it basically on the body maybe 1/4" gap with rubber molding. -Ed
