Guest 73Turbo240z
Alright i ordered a main stud kit from IPP, i ordered the kit number specified for the L24/L26/L28 motors... as seen the the attached photo, kit 202-5406 what arrived was this... Kit 202-5406... listed as being for an L20... which is on IPP's website is listed as being kit 202-5401 for the L20 4cyl. My question is, is this the right kit? Are all the L block mains the same, just + the extran stud/bolts for the extra 2 cyls on 6cyl applications. Or did IPP screw up somewhere, be it in warehouse/shipping, or listing info on the site, etc... I have my order reciept, i can prove i ordered the correct parts, i've contacted them and they sent back what appears to be a generic return/restock email saying i'd need to send the parts back at my cost, encur a 15% restocking fee, etc... i'll be damned if i'm gonna pay for there screw up... so, anyone care to shed some light here? RB26powered74zcar
I think your ok there. You did receive the correct number of fasners, correct? Did you try one yet, or compare...?
J Taylor
Looks like the sticker was scuffed. Are you sure it didn't at one time say L28 on the box and get scuffed where it made it look like a 0? Either way, the part number is correct so I wouldn't worry about it as long as there is the correct amount of studs in the box. Wasn't there a 2.0L L series 6 cyl in Japan? Jolane
If you end up needing some, or rod bolts or head studs, I have all three kits listed in the classified section. Joshua
Guest 73Turbo240z
I think your ok there. You did receive the correct number of fasners, correct? Did you try one yet, or compare...? The warranty expressly says the parts can't be used/worn/etc... also says the box shouldn't be opened, however the ******* thing arrived w/ all the seals already cut/broken so weather i opened it or not is now irrelivant as it appears i did irrigardless, so maybe i will test fit one. I noticed the ARP sticker that comes w/ the kits was gone too, not that i particularly care, but it proves the point that someone was in this kit when it was at the warehouse. Looks like the sticker was scuffed. Are you sure it didn't at one time say L28 on the box and get scuffed where it made it look like a 0? Either way' date=' the part number is correct so I wouldn't worry about it as long as there is the correct amount of studs in the box. Wasn't there a 2.0L L series 6 cyl in Japan? JT[/quote'] I can't say for sure either way, the other kit i got from them is properly labeled and lists the L24/L26/L28 which makes me feel like it's not a "scuff" and that it really says L20. If you end up needing some' date=' or rod bolts or head studs, I have all three kits listed in the classified section.Joshua[/quote'] yea i should have bought all 3 kits from you in the 1st place, this is rediculous... I'm not going to knock IPP yet, i'm going to give them a chance to save face, i've documented all my e-mails, so we'll see how it plays out, they offer a good selection of internal motor components, decent prices, etc... so i don't want to write them off as bad buisness untill they've completely earned it. I hope for the best.
RB26powered74zcar
I still think you will be ok with this. As J.T. said, the L20 was a L6 also, so I think its all the same parts. Relax, and take a deep breath... it'll be ok..
Drax240z
L20A was a 2.0L 6. (Japan Domestic Market) L20B was a 2.0L 4. (lots of north american datsuns)

(lots of north american datsuns) yes, and I'm pretty sure they all shared the same hardware. The L20B 4 was basicly the same as a L6, minus 2 cyl. Guest 73Turbo240z
I went down and counted the main bolts on my old L24 last night, 14 bolts, counted the number of studs in the ARP kit, 14 studs, so i'm guessing this will work fine, i'll probally take one of the bolts out of the block today after class and test thread a stud to be safe though. zbloke
The stud kit will work OK, I had the same questions as you when mine arrived from IPP, part number for a L24/L26/L28 but boxed for an L20, I'll take and post some pics. for you in the next few days. One thing to note, the standard oil pan will clear the longer studs no problem, but if your using an alloy oil pan like me you will have to remove a small amount of material from the inner rear area of the pan to clear the stud ends as the alloy pan has a slightly different profile to the pressed steel pan.
