RB26powered74zcar
I was out in my shop fiddling when my eye caught the two flywheels I had leaning against the wall. One is from my R33 GT-R motorset, and the other is from a 76 280z 2+2 parts car. I got to comparing them and found them to be almost exact. The RB flywheel has one dowel pin in the back of the crank, but that is no biggie. Either drill for one, or don't use it, depending which your going to use where.... The backside reveals that the RB flywheel looks to be much lighter in weight, so this could be a good reason to use it, if any... Anyhoo, just thought I'd throw this out here for the masses... J Taylor
For whatever it's worth I'm using the same 240mm clutch on the RB that I was using on the L28. JT
Guest 30DET
If that's the case then a RB20,25 and 30 flywheel will also fit
240Z_Master
hmm, I wonder if selling my L-series 240mm flywheel was a bad choice or not. I had a 240mm light weight flywheel that I just got rid of. Hmm, now i'm kinda pissed at myself for not checking, lol. Oh in that cast however, can anyone get a good deal on the RB20 Flywheel Fidanza offers? I would like to grab one of those and a Z32 NA Clutch from ACT.
Guest JAMIE T
Sooo... What this might also imply, is that a twin plate for an RB might just work on the L-series... Or, a triple disk for all the phsyco's like me.

Or, a triple disk for all the phsyco's like me. Double check before handing over any $. In the past I've tried fitting a rb20det box to a RB26 using a single plate clutch. For some weird reason the input shaft on the RB20 box wouldnt fit through the rb26 clutch driven plate. Count the splines and OD
Guest JAMIE T
I don't have to double check anything... I have a couple of RB26's and a triple plate, and a twin plate clutch. But, for the L-series guys, yes, they should check it. But, I know where there's a will, there's a way. The ZXTT trans has been discussed for L-series swaps. And, we know it will go behind the RB26's at least. I don't know nuthin' about a RB20 anything.
240Z_Master
Clutch wise, I hear the Z32 NA Clutches work with the RB25 and RB20 Boxes.
ZXRockie
The gears seen to be wider in the L-28 block. not a big difference... that's crazy, who would think that?
Zhadman
Clutch wise, I hear the Z32 NA Clutches work with the RB25 and RB20 Boxes. I've heard that as well (and I think it's been brought up on Hybrid, too). If this is true then it would also work on an RB26 running a GTS-T tranny. ZXRockie
Yes! the 300zx na clutch is the same as the RB25DET clutch... my friend has the rb25 in his 240sx and that's what he did... very cool, ah!
RB26powered74zcar
I just did some more poking around with the two flywheels, and discovered that the R33 Rb26 clutch and preasure plate are 250mm. The spline count are the same between the Z and the RB.
240Z_Master
Would anyone know the Z32 NA Surface area? Is it 250mm also?
J Taylor
z32 na is 240mm. It is supposed to work on a l28 turbo flywheel as well. JT

J Taylor
Yeah, the z32 turbo clutch is 250mm. Wonder if the rb26 flywheel will bolt to a rb25 block. Hmmmm. Are you sure the rb26 clutch is 250mm? I was under the impression the 25 and 26 clutches would interchange for some reason. JT
Guest 30DET
Yeah' date=' the z32 turbo clutch is 250mm. Wonder if the rb26 flywheel will bolt to a rb25 block. Hmmmm. JT[/quote'] If that's the case then a RB20,25 and 30 flywheel will also fit No flywheel issues as I said before. There is only one way to find out if the clutches are interchangeable. I used a rb26 flywheel and clutch on a RB26, the RB20 box (similar to RB30 MX7 and MF5) and the rb26 clutch arnt compatable. Instead I used a RB20 driven plate with the RB26 pressure plate and rb26 flywheel. The RB30 manual is also compatable with the RB25 driven plate. (rb20 boxes are weak as **** but it was only a temporary thing)
