Can a head an manifold be overworked

Recommended Posts

i worked 180B head on L20b engine that ran on a timing curve like this

http://us.f1f.yahoofs.com/bc/40c021...zjkCBGK JtEK3t

total useless past 3000 rpm with stock dizzy but used to go good with about 25 deg to much advance and never melted the pistons! and what a racket it used to make.

in the beging after bolting it down i nearly lifted the roof off the car port

trying to start it then The big bang +flash of light.

split the mufflers open like they where wet paper bags.

was able to arc up in second gear

it used to carbon up plugs in about 3 months ,heat range 12 i think

i still have a few of them, the bearings in block lasted less than a year

i later reduced the comp ratio 8 to 1 this brought the total advance back to 22 deg past 3000rpm.

i felt my old engine at 8 to 1 comp had more power than the stock one im running now

i also found that changing the L20 cam to a L18 cam made a slight diffrence the knocking was less with the same timing ,but no recorded values .

here is some results of my engine

i have data recording on accerelation figures on current motor

eg 1st gear is about 13 to 14 rpm increase per pistion firing.

my mate ......helped me toss the motor out but we didnt rip the head off

im about to start work/recreate this strange thing again on a 4 cyc head in my bluebird which now has a notebook fitted to control the timing.

this program has taken over 5 years to complete.

i have data recording on accerelation figures on current motor

eg 1st gear is about 13 to 14 rpm increase per pistion firing.

the computer is not that fast only 200mhz but will run a 4 cyc near 10K rpm just

ive got 3 inputs hooked up to change things like vac adv, temp,

revlimiter.

if my new one runs ok i will port the head on 280zx the same way.

Ps: if anybody would like to convert this to english please let me know

There are web sites available on the web that can translate text from many recognized official languages to English, if you don't know it. (But then how could you read this? ) Gangster-slang, or any other cute, obtuse, street-talk dialects are not tolerated. Write in clear English that does not require a current knowledge of the latest street-slang.

9. Please try to use correct spelling and grammar. Everyone makes mistakes, but a quick proofread of your post before you hit the "submit" button helps a bunch. Cut and paste your text to/from a Word processor, if you have questions about your spellings. This will help the search function work better as well.

A picture worth a 1000 words so i clicked on "My Photo Album"...... I am now mystified beyond comprehension. Your theoretical applications are not working unless you are trying to predict at what RPM an internal combustion engine will implode or explode or both..... or is it melt down. Rocket science or grievance resolution

rocket science yes

my program measures the acceleration in rpm then predicts where the pistion should be on the next firing stroke it and advances the the timing depending on rpm and rate of increase. (patent pending if i had the money) :-D

when the trigger comes say 55 deg before the event there is a small lag if the rpm is increasing.

eg if the last input reading was 800 rpm and the current input is 825 rpm

there could be an error of of approx 4 deg to fire the correct timing

i think of it this way

its a lot harder to hit a moving target with the same force as when it is stopped.

"require a current knowledge of the latest street-slang" LOL

I know my english is not very good, I did my best back then.

I have now made video clips of what I have been doing, it sure beats me trying to translate my my facts to English.

http://ampair.tripod.com for the story.

7 of my videos have been riped so far on you tube.

it seems like someone who posts these weird links for people to click on is trying to get the localhost's smtp mail server to send out spam mail using hybridz's hosting package as an outlet.

I would watch this guy. His links probably contain phishing scripts.
