DavyZ
Funny, but I didn't see anything on his site regarding G-Force stuff. Which page if the website was it on? Davy
pparaska
I couldn't find it either.

TimZ
Eh, Tim?? Just a guess but I'd say that's what the phone number is for. The GForce setup that I (and a few others now) have involved a fair amount of fabrication - most of the stuff I saw on the webpage was for kits. pparaska
Yeah, I think he's concentrating on building trannies and selling his parts and kits on ebay more than keeping the web site incredibly detailed. I will call soon.
Mikelly
It also wouldn't surprise me if he fell out of step with Gforce like Paul Cangialosi did. The Gforce guys put their NASCAR customer first before everyone else. Of course they spend about 20X more than all the others combined, so of well! pparaska
A buddy at work has his RR mustang's T-5 at G-Force right now. They took it on without a problem and said it'd be about 2 weeks. Maybe G-Force has solved their gearset supply problems and now us non-pro's can get gear sets too.
pparaska
Related thread: I'm going to be moving on doing a G-Force T-5 in the next months : http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=99499&page=2 I'll update there on the progress and results. TimZ
Just got off the phone w/ Kevin, super helpfull guy! Yes he is. I've been dealing with him for several years now (basically whenever I break something ) and he has never steered me wrong.
BillZ260
So could one take the V8 gearset out and have it heat treated a bit? I'm guessing not since they are most like HT'd already huh? So gforce is cutting lower angle heilicals and harder steel to make them stronger right?
thehelix112
Could someone explain why lower angle helicals make the gears stronger? I always thought it was more to do with the energy losses and the force that is applied to the casing? Dave
BillZ260
I think it's due to the more staight the gear is cut, the larger the contact area is from tooth to tooth. That should translate to less pressure on the gear across the contact patch. Right?
thehelix112
Hmmm.. The contact area will be less with straight cut. Example: - is a shorter line than / though they both occupy the width of one character. Dave
BillZ260
Your right the contact area for the straight cut is shorter. I was thinking of an actual heilical cut, not a straight angled cut. Anyway, the straight cut gears put all or more of the force into eachother w/ less or little side loading, but I don't know if that makes them stronger? I'm not an engineer, so I'll shut up now..
