thats a funny title..

anyways, i have my engine on the engine stand looking all pretty, and i just bolted the turbo to the exhaust manifold.

when i spin the turbine wheel with my finger i can hear a slight "ting ting"...

theres very little shaft play, it does have alot of miles on it (its a stock T3).

the sound isnt consistent, sorta sounds like theres a small little rock in there or something but i doubt that... sounds like that it could be it as in sound though.

any thoughts?

should i just say F it and boost away or start looking for another stocker???

3 weeks to go to SEZ :( and bad luck is every where...

do you hear the sound when you just shake it around? I would blow some compressed air trough it from multiple angles, multiple times and see if it still tings at you. check to see if the wheels are scraping the housings at all, the wheels will ting like a tuning fork when they scrape the wall and then release. throw some oil at the bearings and see what happens.

otherwise its time to yank the sucker apart.

taking it apart now.. i tired the compressed air and no luck.

its very low ting sound.

i dont have money for another turbo so i dunno what to do if its bad.

will see tomorrow though i guess.

gotta go pick up my new wheels now though :).. well used but new to me.

Sparky's right ..........BUT....if your spinning it with your finger...make sure its not the tip of your finger RINGING the sound as it slips away from the impellar blade! If you couldn't hear it after a spin blow with the airhose....chances are it was ringing from you.

If you have had it apart recently, it is very possible that the housing wasn't pressed together completely before you tightened the nuts back on ??
