Raced an EVO Running 21psi Last Night!

This was not one of those quick raced with someone that I happend upon whilst driving, my good friend owns the EVO and we were coming back home from a party....1am. It was the first time I had the car out in over a month, after I had the engine out of it, while I was putting in the new oil pan gasket and a new steering rack (and new tie rods)...frickin' tough work!

The only mods on his EVO is a boost controller and its at 21psi.

We both agreed off the line he would eat me, so we raced from about 20mp/h for over 1000ft (maybe more).

Well he did get the jump on me and stayed only about a 3/4 to 1 car ahead of me. I was actually quite happy with how the ZXT performed as I am only running 10 lousy psi of boost.

With 40-50 more hp I would be able to hang with him easily....inspiration to get back into car and start modding it again. Now that the car is finally leak free....

i still wonder how much faster the MR is in straight line performance.

Man, I should just go buy a L28ET right now. I would be SO satisfied with 170 at the wheels. Forget beating evos, i just want a fun drive!

Great to hear the Z is working so well though slownrusty 8)

Thanks for the info on3go. Kinda weird, because BMI tested the idea of the aluminium roof that the MR has over the RS by running it through a cone course and then laying a blanket of heavy rubber on the roof to bring the roof weight to what the RS is, and the MR ran FASTER with the extra weight! Weird eh? Maybe it has to do with the YAW being more active with the extra weight.

I was just about to post A New Evo thread ,but then I saw this soooo I would post it in here... Im thinking about getting an evo but before I look much more into it I wanted to hear what you guys had to say? The idea of a 4door all wheel drive car that gets "better" gas milage then my tacoma thats falling apart sounds really good to me its like 40bucks a week for me to fill her......

well I dont care what u have to say good or bad I want to hear it all....

My brother recently got into real estate and will be buying an evo once he startes getting an even flow of buisness.

I think they're AWSOME. I think they're the best bang for the buck car in existance. Some might argue that point. But nobody in thier right mind would argue that they're THE BEST speed/practicallity car on the market. I also think thier active yaw control AWD system kills any other AWD system on the market. Most reviewers that actually take this car to the track for autox like how it behaves alot like a RWD car but lets you stomp on it much earlier in the turn.

I think they're the pinnacle of AWD in the realistically priced car range.

It controls the power output from left to right. So the harder you turn right the more the power travels to the left tires, to help the car turn. It's the simplest way of avoiding understeer in a AWD system. The STI AWD just uses a very well balanced LSD system to let the back end slide a bit to create mild oversteer.

it's due to the AWD + Turbo. And there's no "production" 400HP evo. I can guarentee that. It must have been a shop tuned car.

Also, a hybrid won't do half of what the evo does. An evo will beat pretty much anything in it's price range at sukuba except the STI.
