The LS1/FD would be a deadly combo, always thought it was the best comprimise of everything. Has anyone done any measuring in the engine bay, a VH45, Tundra V8, Northstar V8 would be a sweet ass motor if it would fit.

FD. Price, parts availability, overall sexiness, and you can throw a V8 in it (if you must). But you should just stick with the 13BRE, enhance the cooling system so it won't blow up, and do some minor mods so it's faster. Done, and done. I love Porsches, but stuff costs probably 50% more for the Porsche than it would for the Mazda.
