Garrett76Zt
Ok so we bought a 1990 240sx single cam for my sister . . . of course that makes me the in house mechanic. . . So there is this really odd clacking noise at about 2000 rpm. Time for a timing chain replacement! These are the parts I pulled off . . . . Ouch the guide broke in half! And that bolt tensioner is almost worn through! Wait isnt there supposed to be two guides for the timing chain!? Where is the other one . . . . HERE IT IS!!! NOT KIDDING! That is a billion plastic pieces of chain guide! Pulled em all out of the oil pan.

JMortensen
Same thing happened on my 22RE, then one of those plastic bits got between the crank gear and the chain and broke it and bent the valves. Luckily I was starting the car when it happened and I only managed to bend 2 exhaust valves. Single row chains and plastic chain guides SUCK! Drax240z
Super common on the KA's... I've seen that a few times myself. Actually had one that wore about 1/2 way through the aluminum boss that holds on the front cover and the slack side guide was totally gone... 80LS1T
Hehehe kinda looks like a dodge 2.7 Liter, timing chain tensioner looses oil pressure.....chain loosens up and all hell breaks loose! Most of the time those plastic guides look just like yours and are in the old pan. Looks like fun! LOL Guy
