went to the import(honda family) street races tonite, matter of fact im fresh out the races! its 5am and im finishing up some paperwork for school. two buddies and me decided to check out the races earlier this week. i secretly went to the old Olympian in SSF that sells 110 unleaded (they used to be the old school hotrod Texaco, and they are still owned by the same family)

and mixed four gallons of the stuff in with my 91 octane, and turned up the wick to 10-ok 11-ok 12-and i stopped. car never felt so tough before, on the freeway it would hit close to 15psi in od, and it stil wouldnt ping, oh boy im ready.

all the honda guys hang out at this gas station and pile up heads to go to the racing place, the parking lot of the old candlestick park(GHETTO!). so we spy on them from down the street waiting for them to drive out already. after what feels like hours we finally start trailing the pack. one buddy is in his carbed 383 86 vette with a built 700r4, and my other buddy is rolling in his Turbo2 stock, and we roll up to see about 100 civics, integras, crx's (various crews), ae86(i was down with those guys, they are a drift team i like talking rims with), s2000s, a few supras, turbo2s, rx7tts, and a 300zxtt or two, along with the family cars with fart pipes. first off, nobody there would race my buddies vette, yet they were quick to say how inefficient a v8 was, yet they would not race it. the turbo2 was there just to hang out. we watched about ten very boring honda vs. honda drag matches, and one good 240sx vs. 7mgte supra match. we are all standing around in our little three car pack, i wanted to go home, but my buddies were dying to see the reaction i would get when one of their ranks went down to the 280. i couldnt resist, so i roll up to the "staging lanes" next to a s2000, with some chubby guy with bleached blond bangs listening to bad house music top down the guy looks over at me, smiles, and whips his hair to the side and looks away quickly next to me, thinking im easy killings. thats when i started spooling up, and gave him a shot of hks ssqv, oh yeah, his face really sobered up after that. it was great. we line up, and i hear him take it up to about 5500, hes letting me hear his vtec i guess. i keep the revs up to about 0hg, and when the guy does the hand gesture thats equivalent to the second light on the tree i go to 2psi, and drop the hammer on him. i crushed him out the hole with both a fishtail, and a massive squat( the way i likes it) , hooked the whole show up, and lost that poor guy in first, second pulled away at least two or maybe three cars away, and in third he started closing the gap, but way too late. after that, pure bliss. came back to tell my boys i was gonna go home, and people from the crowd were like" whats in that thing? "man your turbo sounds crazy" "what is that thing?" the guy i raced was very sulky, wouldnt even make eye contact with me.

i told em i had a straight six and thats it, and i promptly made a uturn and left, my buddies said that the whole crowd was in awe of the 280, they said they saw wheels come off the ground, because my car squats so much it looks lke the bumper is about to touch the ground!!!!.

thats what makes the whole project feel like its worth the time and effort to me besides this drivability- i just knocked the stuffing out a $30,000 car :D

Nice, I know that gas station too smile.gif

I'd rather have an "inneficient" 383 than pay $4.50 for gas though, once you tune an NA car you are done. Yes, call me lazy :D

Len, I still want to know where that yard is, I want to get some stuff in a couple weeks hopefully smile.gif

it was very fun, even though i wish the import race scene here consisted of more cars with some go fast instead of show fast. people with more money in their rims and beat than speed parts gets to me-especially when they try to take it to a street race. i dont think i needed the race gas to be honest, but i didnt want to take the chance at a high boost setting since im paranoid, it was more psychological than anything.

hahaha(evil grin sets on my face). I can't WAIT to get my L28ET in my '73. To tell the slackers it's just a six is gonna be so much fun. No one around here can stand next to a first gen Zcar launch.

So are they busting people right and left in the Bay area for street racing? Or is your parking lot venture a simple tresspass ticket at worst?Just curious people down here use crop duster landing strips for the same reason.good kill.

three people i know got their cars took in the

TRACY street races, another guy i know took the cops for a high speed and got away some how in his Del Sol (pronounced damn slow) but crashed somewhere in the beginning and lost his front bumper, before that he got his ex-girlfriends RSX took for street racing, and ran the police because he was driving without a liscense, and street racing still (theres no excuse for being that stupid) and his girl friend- a friend of mine, helped him finance the stupid car because his credit was shot!!!! I wont go to the tracy or the sacramento races because they are too far

i dont want to get my car took EVER, and i dont want to break down out there, or in the ghetto.

the races at candlestick get raided once a month or so, they block it off really fast and start punching out the tickets, if youre on the sidelines you get either a warning or a ticket, and ive heard they do a hood pop spontaneously if you give them any lip. I went this one time and i believe that will be it from me, i like having this car way too much to lose it like a dummy. I am not against giving it a quick romp on the street though, just not as often as my former Life... next racing will be for timeslips, or for coffee.

WOW!! Len's last post took me back to last summer. When I use to be a daily vistor and the Oakland runs. After we all got busted, (friend's RX7 got a book of tickets, Integra got towed, RSX got towed, and a butt load of cars) I stopped going to the races. I HEARD that the Tracy runs was always cool and never got broken up. I guess I was wrong about that. Yeah the races are getting too hot in the Bay Area and with the movie Fast and Furious 2 coming out, cops will be happy to write out tickets.

here in tampa its getting pretty bad.

a real big racing spot is the Gandy.

its a pretty long bridge with really no spot for cops to pop up, and nice and smooth.

There was some crazy cars out there like crazy fast supras, vipers, vettes, 300zx's, rx7's DSM's etc etc... but now theres like 10 fast cars and the rest are slow ricers.

and just of lately (past 5 weeks) the cops are breaking up the meeting spots when they never cared at all before.

theres really no good places any more in tampa to race.

but GREAT KILL!

when my friend 1st got his wrx and nobody really knew abou that that much it was fun always spanking ppl and then when they said "holy crap what u got done to that thing" we would always just say "just a 4 bangger"

smile.gif so much fun..

was even more fun when we raced a S2000 with a mugen header and exhaust from a ROLL with only him in the car and with 5 ppl in the wrx and we still beat him... and the wrx only has intake, full exhaust, and 16psi on stock turbo. it was great!
