Guest l28et
Take the shell of one of the most beautiful cars in the world, insert engine of choice... hmmmmmmm. http://www.crenshawlocomotiveworks.com/html/ferrari_f355.html Ferrari 355 GTS (Targa roof) SBC Chevy? 3800SC? 4g63? Northstar? Tint the windows, recover the dash/slight customize, new seats and drivetrain of your choice - would sure make one bad *** drag car! BTW - it was in the last Bond movie if anyone cares. ToplessZ
The price is definatly right. Id say do a bmw v12 swap in that thing and it would sound beautiful!!! Or keep it cheap and simple and go sbc for more fun throw in a turbo.
Mikelly
Actually the used market on good condition running 355F1s is only in the $60s-80sK range. That car, missing what it's missing, and dealing with the matting up of anything to the running gear shouldn't be worth $27,000. Maybe $15,000 but certainly not near half the price of a used 95-98 model in good running condition! I've got video of me running one of those down at VIR on Doug Carrow's website. The sound of that V8 is amazing, and sure gets the blood flowing. Mike
Lewis Maudlin
I agree, the car sounds pricey. It would be a great car for a FWD SR20DET motor mounted in the trunk. The motors are easliy capable of producing 400whp and get great mileage. The all aluminum block would keep the total weight down too. That would be my motor choice for this car. Guest l28et
$27,000? Maybe, maybe not. Lets just put it this way, you're not going to see this happen very often. This isnt a car you can rebuild and resell. 98% of Ferrari buyers wont even touch a car with a salvage/rebuilt title, or anything with over 1500 miles a year for that matter without a HUGE price gouge (seen F355s with prior damage, fully and professionaly fixed loose 20-30K value.) Personally, I think this would make an awesome hybrid candidate. Turn one of the most gorgeous, expensive and tempermental cars in the world into a reliable everyday exotic/track/drag car. Engine choices are unlimitated. I think turbo LS1 takes the cake here.
