The differences between the 240Z rack and the 260/280Z rack is described here: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?p=615429#post615429 The difference in the crossmember is that the 260/280 crossmember was reinforced with an additional plate on the bottom and they were also triangulated with a side brace. fastzcars Posted April 3, 2006 Share Posted April 3, 2006 I also seem to remember that the 240 rack itself is of a smaller diameter than the later 260/280 models. 2126 Posted April 3, 2006 Share Posted April 3, 2006 You may also notice that the later crossmembers have additional material on the steering rack mounting tabs. rustrocket Posted April 5, 2006 Author Share Posted April 5, 2006 my main concern was whether or not it would bolt into my 510. i knew that the 240z crossmember was a direct bolt on, but wasnt sure about the difference between the later cars, if any. thanks for all your help. bjhines Posted April 6, 2006 Share Posted April 6, 2006 Here is a comparison of early VS late 240Z front crossmembers... actually I am not sure of the beefier crossmember's year... but they both bolt up to 240Z chassis and racks... another view.... side view...
