Welp.. all done.. sort of.. motor swap.. VIDEO and pics

Welp.. the N47/N42 combo powered by megasquirt and a watercooled T3 pooped out on me.. bad valve seals..

 

soo rather than changing the seals.. I went ahead and got a deal on a F54/P90a combo and swapped her in the car..

 

while it was out.. I decided.. ehh why not go Holset HY35W ...

Nicely done. Looks very clean. The hood is awesome and I love the FMIC. Throw some nice wheels and take off that side molding and you're set.

Thats cool that you did all that on the street! I couldn't get away with that in my neighborhood, even though my neighbors probably would laugh at me and would not put it past me.!

yeh pushing the cherry picker up the driveway was hell.. wouldnt even go up the curb.. so i pushed it up the street and on the handicap sidewalk ramp.. and stuff..

 

 

what sucks is I did EVERYTHING myself.. no help from anyone..

 

good ol 135 pound 19 yr old .. hahaha how sad

I can relate: I did a Volvo 6 cyl diesel swap when I was in my early 20's. Getting no help was a bit hard, but I trudged through it! I'm blown away that the city allowed you to work on the car in the street. Most cities have an ordinance that prevent people from doing that and they make sure to enforce it by sending over the police :(

well performance is definatly different..

 

I was used to a small T3 and a 8.3:1 compression ratio..

full boost at like 2,200 RPM in 5th gear..

 

now I have a turbo which in my opinion is too big.. and 7.3:1 CR... full boost at like 3,500 RPM in 4th gear

 

 

I do miss my old motor.. it was peppy and snappy..

 

but this new one.. when the boost hits.. it effn hits!

 

Overall I am happy... still have ALOT of work to do.. but hell..

 

it's a daily driven, air conditioned road car.. what more can I ask for?

how many PSI are you pushing now? play with your tune and your actuator taughtness, you can get that spool down to 3000-3100 with a little tweaking.

my dad hates my car.. which is why he wouldnt let me do it in the garage..

 

he tells me everyday to sell the rusty piece of **** .. or he will light it up in flames..

 

 

my mom hates the car.. she thinks its too fast for a 20 year old...

 

 

i dont care.. its the Z I love.. i even sacrafice a ticket doin an engine swap in the street.. mailman approved it.. haha
